Chapter 7 by Rereese7 Rereese7

Then you realized something...

It's A Trap!

You're not sure where that term came from but, nevertheless, it was true.

The beautiful elf, with all her gorgeous features and long hair... was actually a guy. The information came to you as his hand touched your egg. But it wasn't just that. As the soft palm wrapped around your egg, your brain was suddenly flooded with images, words, and sounds of the outside world. Suddenly, you knew everything about the outside world and its inhabitants, even though you've never seen it. You now knew that the boy wore robes to show his faith to a Goddess known as Irelia, the Goddess of love. You knew that he had practically no damaging abilities but his support and healing abilities were enough to keep a barbarian such as his friend alive and strong enough to fight off an army of Hellhounds. You knew that these adventurers were here to clear out a cave of goblins, a quest given to them from a man in a nearby town. You even knew his settings and options for the game.

As he picked you up, you considered all of this new information. You could only assume that it was because he knew all of it and had made contact with you directly. Maybe that was a reference to some sort of telepathy ability?

Wait! Your character sheet! You quickly accessed it, eager to finally see what you were and what your stats were. You opened the sheet and gazed at it with wide eyes, so to speak, slowly reading the words...

Name: Unknown Egg

That was it? That was the only thing that changed!? Everything else was still blurry, like you couldn't exactly see it. You could tell there were letters but you couldn't figure out what they were. But everything made sense when the boy, Alex, lifted you up to his face and looked at your egg.

"Huh. Guess this one needs to be identified. Should take it to the trader tomorrow and see what it is. If he says it's useless to the church, I'll sell it."

Your brain suddenly scanned through the information that had passed from him to you and realized that he was right. Every now and then, heroes would find a powerful item that just showed a question mark on it. This led to them needing to "identify" it. After they identify it, all of the stats of that item would be revealed to everyone. But was that really the reason why you couldn't identify yourself? That was pretty shitty.

As Alex lifted you over his shoulder and put you in his inventory, you realized it would take some time for you to reach the town for him to identify you. The one they got the quest in didn't have anyone able to identify objects. He needed to get to the bigger town. Kingdom, the word coming to you.

"Well, let's get going. I'm sure Kevin is eager to get his reward."

As Alex walked out of the opening, you connected the word he just said to the barbarian. It was his name. You even got information about everyone he knew? Okay, that was cool.

You sorted through the information once more and discovered that, indeed, Kevin was the barbarian. They'd recruited him at the town they got the quest in because they needed someone who could deal with melee enemies. The teammate they usually had was an orc berserker named Sera. But she was unavailable so they hired this guy.

The girl with the bow was named Ashley. She was a ranger with great agility and cunning but not much strength. She was great at hunting enemies and animals in forests, plains, anything out in the open. She'd often use traps as well as her bow to dispatch groups of monsters. But anytime she had to deal with caves or mines and had to get close to her adversary, she was next to useless without someone between her and her opponent.

You surprisingly felt comfort in the inventory space you were kept, like sitting in a warm blanket. You wanted to relax and enjoy it until you were identified. You were really looking forward to that. However, you also wanted to stay alert and focus on everything outside of the inventory. The more you could learn from everything, the better, right?

What do you decide to do?
