Chapter 6 by Nemo of Utopia Nemo of Utopia

The Journey Of A Thousand Miles Begins With A Single... Slither, Squirm, Wriggle...? (How DOES One Describe A Maggot Making A Thousand Mile Journey?) Anyway; How Do You Proceed From Here?

Flee The Area And Look For Somewhere To Hide Until Nightfall...

You at once begin to wriggle away from the clearing where your recent victory has cost you so much. The Priestess of Helia will be on the attack any sec-

A ball of flames outlined in bright red flashes past your head. 'Yup, that would be the Sun-Priestess!' You think as you flop as fast as possible toward the cover of the surrounding forest. Fortunately for everyone, the priestess' fireballs don't have the 'Igniter' keyword so you are not caught in a forest fire as her horrible aim leaves patches of scorched branches and incinerated foliage all around you.

Not long after you pass out of the clearing she stops trying to peg you with fireballs and you breathe a little maggoty sigh of relief. You then start searching for an abandoned den or other small relatively secured location where you can make your lair for the next little bit while you buy off some of those penalties for choosing a type of demon so far above you in station.

You figure that your best strategy is going to be hunting at night for wounded non-critter animals, then ambushing them at their dens and goading them into attacking you, which won't be easy as your maw will be the first thing in, with no sensitive nose or other easily damaged fleshy organ to strike at. But, to pull this off, you have to wait for nightfall, when your Blindsense gives you the strongest advantage...

What Do You Find For A Temporary Lair?
