Fairouzeh: on a 10+, yes, +1 forward

"That one," Mona says. "The girl with the dark hair and the linen sundress. She looks really elegant. I liked how she did her make-up."

You take a deep breath. "I'll do my best," you say. You head back to the table, trying to remember the best angles from The Pickup Artists' Guide, but somehow you don't recall anything about hooking up two girls.

"Fairouzeh," you say. "My friend Mona is working the counter."

Fairouzeh tilts up her aviator sunglasses, looking puzzled.

"She's the one that brought us the drinks?" you add.

Fairouzeh looks over toward the counter, sees Mona, nods and smiles.

"She's pretty. Is she just a friend?" Fairouzeh asks.

"Just a friend," you say. "She had a question for you. She really likes how you do your make-up and wondered if you could show her."

Fairouzeh smiles. "I would be happy to. Would you introduce us?"

You lead Fairouzeh to the counter. Mona meets you at the corner and flips her shiny brown ponytail back.

"Fairouzeh, this is my friend Mona. I know her from back in high school. Mona, this is Fairouzeh. She and her friends whomped me fair and square in sand volleyball. Thank you for helping me celebrate their victory."

Mona leans on the counter and rolls her shoulders, displaying her chest in her low-cut uniform top. "Pleased to meet you, Fairouzeh," Mona says. "I really like what you did with your eyes. I've never seen anything like that before."

Mona had never been anything for clothes or make-up in school, but since she was more independent, she was starting to develop her own style.

"Thank you, Mona," Fairouzeh says. "Did you want to see how I do it?"

Mona hands off to the other counter people, telling them she's headed for the bathroom, and goes there with Fairouzeh. A few minutes later, Mona is back, with artfully enhanced lines and shading around her eyes, and grinning like someone gave her a pony for her birthday. Fairouzeh looks pleased with herself as well. She adjusts a scarf around her neck, and you see something that looks like it could be a little love bite.

"What are you doing later?" Mona asks. "I'm off in a couple of hours."

Fairouzeh says, "I'm out with the other girls to have fun. Our university quarter just ended, and they invited me along. But the afternoon has been a little slow for me. Until now. Can you text me when you're done?"

Fairouzeh and Mona text each other's phones and Mona promises to let her know.

"How about let's all go out together?" you say.

Mona shrugs and smiles.

Fairouzeh laughs. "I'll see if I can talk Tara into it. Maybe if I can make her think it's her idea. Or Kath or Jennifer might put in a word, if we say Mona is coming."
