Evening activities (Gavin's POV)

Gavin had found himself in his new bedroom, having spent the evening with his "father", though he didn't really find it difficult to think of the man as his father now that he had spent some time and got to know the man a little. There were pictures on the wall, obviously generated by X-Change, that showed them on various activities like camping, fishing, hiking, and doing things that fathers and sons throughout time often did. There wasn't really any major issue he had with the fact they were there, it embellished the house a bit, but he also felt that this was a different and, indeed nice, change of pace for him. Richard was very focused on the family, finding it easy to talk and be open about anything that he felt talking to him about, and there was an openness that was both refreshing and surprising to someone used to being kept isolated, beaten down, and indeed seen as a second-class **** instead of a partner in a marriage.

Yes, Richard was nothing like the fucking shits he had left behind. (Pardon the language, "bastards" was perhaps more appropriate.)

Dinner had been a simple affair, steaks and some roasted potatoes that he had grilled up that afternoon and afterwards, Gavin had excused himself to permit mom to get to know dad a bit better (the fact that there was some wine opened and Harold had been a weak-one when it came to wine, Samantha hadn't changed in that regard), though he was sure with the looks and the tone of the conversation that not a single word he had uttered had been heard.

He climbed the stairs to the second floor and looked down the hallway at the several doors to bedrooms, 3 total, with one being his own. The other two were for sisters that would be arriving in a few days (it was something that X-Change had sent to both parents earlier in a questionnaire and both had surprisingly agreed to wanting 3 kids, part of the reason they were matched up apparently). He was going to be the oldest at 18, with a sister at 14 and one at 11. A bathroom for the three kids would be something else to experience, growing in a household with 7 other kids and having to share meant never really having one of her own (relatively speaking).

Gavin's room was a bit on the spartan side, though that was to be expected as they had planned on going shopping to outfit the room with all sorts of things that would reflect both on a 18-year old boy as well as for his own tastes. A 40 inch flatscreen, PS-5 with some FPS, a newer laptop and a desk pretty much made up his room. A closet and drawers pretty empty except for a pair of pajamas that they had picked up, and an extra-long full size bed for him to sleep. Although it was bare, Gavin never had a room of his own growing up so suddenly being gifted with one (and it was larger than his sisters' rooms, he had checked), he was pretty happy to be here already.

Picking up the phone next to his bed, he opened it up and looked at the information sent from the school. He was enrolled as a senior and would start in about 2 weeks time and even that prospect hadn't really scared him as much as it should. Sure, he would be back in school but this time, instead of being looked at as the nerdy, poor matchstick girl, he was pretty sure that he would be at least able to hold his own. Better than being a stepping stone, anyways. Plus, well, might as well take this body for a spin huh? he mused with a bit of a laugh, wondering how he would be with the girls his age, definitely remembering how much he was noticing women in general. The question of what he would like as a guy pretty much settled for him the moment they had hit the airport.
