Dice notation for non-gamers

If anyone is unfamiliar with the standard dice notation used in D&D and other such games, I'll lay it out here.

D(X) refers to an X-sided dice. So a D6 would be referring to the commonly-seen 6-sided dice, with faces of the numbers 1 - 6.

A D20 is a 20-sided dice, with faces showing numbers 1 - 20, and is the most common dice to be used in these kinds of role-playing games. If you are ever told to roll without a type of dice being specified, it will be a D20.

(Y)D(X) refers to rolling multiple X-sided dice, Y of them. So 3D20 means that you should roll three 20-sided dice (or roll the same 20-sided dice three times) and add up the results.

If you roll anything at "advantage", it means making the same roll twice and taking the better result of the two. Rolling at "disadvantage" is the opposite, making the same roll twice and taking the worse of the two.
