Chapter 9 by Sentinel_011 Sentinel_011

How does the fight turn out?

Badly for them

As time resumes, you get a glimpse of the horror on the faces of the adventurers as they watch your entire change happen at once, the two of them staring at the new Boss-Monster standing over the still fading corpse of their fallen party member.

"Big mistake ladies," You tell them in your deep, rumbling voice, "Big mistake."

"SHIT!" the barbarian shouts as she rushes forward.

To most monsters, these circumstances would be terrifying. You were being rushed by a player that was easily 20 levels higher than you, and you have no equipment and almost no knowledge of your new skills. But you did have a few advantages. Firstly, both of your opponents are badly injured, and obviously low on Mana and Stamina. Also, they have no healer, and while they likely have plenty of potions, those take time to use. Meanwhile, you are at full strength. And one other thing, something you have that you are certain no other mob can claim to have.

Experience.

Being present for what was formerly the final boss encounter for a very high-level quest chain, you had seen literal hundreds of high-level heroes come through, and with nothing else to do, you had watched with rapt attention. In short, there was nothing these two could do that you hadn't seen a dozen times before.

A fact you prove when you easily dodge out of the way of the barbarian's Wild Frenzy and rake her across the chest with your claws.

"Dammit! Ilyana, do something!" the barbarian shouts.

"On it!"

At that, the wizard raises her hands and begins casting. You don't give her the chance to finish. Your reptilian eyes lock onto her and you release your new Breath Weapon. The wizard flies back into the far wall of the zone. From the looks of her, she's passed out, hanging on with a sliver of health.

With a roar, the barbarian rushes you again, seemingly **** to kill you despite her lack of support. Or hit points for that matter.

"You know, you've been making a rather long series of mistakes," you say as you cleanly dodge her repeated swings, "For example, you could have intercepted that lightning blast just now, and been perfectly fine. Your equipment gives you a high resistance to electricity, and if I haven't lost track, the extra buffs you have for the same thing won't be wearing off until about... two minutes from now, I think."

The Barbarian, obviously tired of both your taunting and your ability to read her moves, stops and uses one of her skills: Roar of the Wild.

"SHUT UP!" she screams, the AoE attack and accompanying knockback effect hitting you full on.

Before you can get up, she's on you again and this time she manages to land a flurry of blows against your unprotected midsection. Even through your anger, you can't help but notice your HP fall. She manages to corner you against the wall.

"Any last words before you die, big guy?" she asks, the blade of her ax pressed against your throat.

Your draconic lips turn up into a smirk and you flash the player, Lara, you remember her name is, a sharp grin.

"As a matter of fact, I do have some. Remember how I said your buff spells had about two minutes left on them?"

Lara raises an eyebrow.

"I lied."

Without missing a beat you fire another blast at her. The lightning tore into her, as her buffs had worn of mere seconds ago. While the **** of the blow didn't knock her back any, it did make her drop her ax, one you were more than happy to relieve her of.

New Item:

Ax of the Undying: (Epic)

  • +953 Melee Attack
  • +20% Health and Stamina Regen in Combat
  • 0.5% chance to ignore fatal damage and instead be left at 1 HP
  • Regain HP equal to 4% of damage dealt.

Not a bad weapon. You'll certainly put it to better use than its previous wielder. Still getting a feel for the weapon, you give it a good practice swing right into the area left exposed by her immodestly designed but admittedly very flattering boob-armor. She stumbles backward, clutching her stomach.

"Did you know there is no lag-time on a Dragon's breath weapon? I'd bet not," You say, "Not many people experience that first hand."

You can't help but gloat. This bitch, the one who killed what was programmed as your family, was reduced to almost nothing before you. It's safe to assume she didn't know this would happen when she came here this morning, and you truly love the feeling of power you have over her. Over the supposed hero. It's intoxicating. So intoxicating, you don't notice Lara scrambling through her inventory. As you slowly stalk towards her, readying your new ax for the finishing blow, you still don't notice the item that now sits in her hands.

In fact, you only see a brief flash of it while she rushes you one last time, but you recognize it all the same.

A Taming Tag.

Does she succeed?
