A Church

I awake to find myself lying on a bed in a small room. The walls are a bright barrage of various figures of Siafenem, including a nude portrait of the goddess herself, surrounded by her many lovers. I turn to see Farsai looming over me, wearing blue robes with a gold trim and a soft smile on her face.

"You're awake."

"Where the hell am I?"

"You're at our church."

"I didn't realize there was a Church of Siafenem in Dravenport?"

"It's new."

"How the hell did you get me here anyway?"

"Our members helped you."

"But why?"

"Because we need someone like you. Someone with Siafenem's power." As much as I didn't expect to be offered a position in a cult here, Dravenport has proven to be a cursed city for myself.

"What if I refuse?"

"The goddess Siafenem has compelled you to come here."

"And what makes you say that?"

"Why else come back to a town that you obviously hate?"

"Yeah, because you keep ruining my contracts."

"Well, your contracts come at the price of supporting the current mayor, who wants to kick us out of town." With all the chaos she's caused, I understand the mayor's sentiments exactly.

"So why cause all this ruckus?"

"To make him look like the fool he is."

"And why do you need me?"

"You're the only other one with the gift of channeling Siafenem's magic."

"Like last night, when you knocked me out?"

"That's exactly why you need practice."

"Say I agree to this? What happens next?"
