[GM] A lonely egg

The ground shook hard enough to knock leaves from the canopy above Pippa. As leaves rained down on her head, she heard a monstrous roar coming from somewhere behind her.

She turned around and peered past the tree she had awoken against. In the small clearing beyond, she saw a scene of carnage. The ground was covered in splatters of blood, and large branches and other pieces of foliage had been strewn about as clear signs of a struggle. A struggle that was still happening somewhere nearby, just out of sight behind the trees, if the continuing roars and snarls of multiple animals were anything to go by.

In one corner of the clearing, nestled up against the other side of Pippa's tree, there was a half-circle of twigs and branches. It had clearly been a full circle only recently, but now half of its border had been broken and thrown about the clearing with the rest of the disturbed foliage. Within the circle of twigs sat a single intact egg, along with many fragments of eggshell and splatters of egg fluid.

The egg was white with green spots, and was almost as large as Pippa was tall. As Pippa watched, it shook slightly. Pippa couldn't be sure if it was something moving inside the egg, or if it was just shaking from the heavy thudding that was continuing to rock the ground.

She almost missed it, but sitting in amongst the piled-up twigs was a wooden ring. Engravings of various animal faces decorated its outer edge. It was too large to fit on Pippa's fingers, but she could probably squeeze it on as a bracelet with enough **** or lubrication.

[GM] You hear the sounds of a nearby battle between what sounds like one large animal and a pack of smaller animals. You can't see the creatures, but you can definitely tell that it's close, likely only obscured by a single layer of trees.

[GM] In the direction the noise is coming from, there is a clearing with a large nest on the ground. Signs of a scuffle litter the ground, and the nest and most of the eggs in it have been broken. There is one intact egg remaining.
