The Wedding

The Wedding

What could go wrong?

Chapter 1 by EricW EricW

The soft melodies of a string quartet made their way into June's dressing room. Between the music and the heavy door the bride could just barely make out the murmur and footsteps of guests arriving for the ceremony. There would be nearly a hundred in attendance. Friends and family. Some welcomed, some invited only out of obligation. There were more than a few plus ones she wasn't looking forward to seeing. Eric, her husband to be, was likely welcoming each of them as they arrived.

Not all their guests were happy. To save their day from crying infants, screaming children and dumb teenagers the pair had asked that no one under eighteen be brought to their wedding. Plenty of family members, their lives dictated by their offspring, were upset by that stipulation. Some guests didn't even come because of it, but that was fine. It was their day; Junes and Erics.

She looked in the mirror. Her hair and makeup were perfect, just as they were the last nine times she checked. Her dress was cut a bit risque, enough to get a snide comment from her grandmother when she first tried it on, but it looked good. She looked good. Everything was perfect.

It was her big day. Preparation had gone off without a hitch. Plans had been followed to the letter. The craziness of her bachelorette party had been swept under the rug. There was nothing left for the bride to do but sit and wait for the ceremony.

Authors Note
What did June and her bridesmaids get up to at the bachelorette party? Will the ceremony go smoothly? How wild will the reception be? Wardrobe malfunctions. Uninvited guests. Secrets exposed. Whatever. It's your call.

What I'm presenting here is just a setup. Where the wedding is happening, who June and Eric are, what they look like, it's all up to you. This setup could go in any number of directions and I encourage people to have fun with it. Short entries, long sprawling stories, it's all good. Any genre permitted by CHYOA is acceptable here and not every story has to focus on June. There are plenty of other people at the wedding.

All I ask is that you add the genre of your story at the head of it's first chapter.
