Chapter 1 by SilentWraith SilentWraith

It is the year 2020, when the invasion of nearly 20,000 men led by King Christopher Esteban of Linced crossed over the southern borders of neighboring kingdom, Nicaea. The King of Nicaea, Leylin Farlier sent his right hand man, Landyn Kenneth, to be in charge of the Kingdom's poorly trained militia, numbering 70,000 men to meet Linced's army in combat, only leaving 15,000 men to defend the capital itself, which later proved to be a fatal mistake. King Christopher Esteban used genius military tactics to outsmart the Nicaean troops and arrived to the capital with nearly no casualties. The war between the kingdom of Linced and Nicaea ended in a mere 3 months, breaking all previous records and is known as one of the most famous wars today.

Nicaea Castle, Capital city of Nicaea.

"You're majesty! The troops of Linced have arrived at the capital! What are your orders?" A soldier wearing silver and blue armor (the kingdom's colors) rushed into the throne room and kneeled in front of the throne. A proud and arrogant looking man sat on the throne, gazing down at him with his sharp eyes. This was the King of Nicaea. Shivers ran down the spine of the soldier as he was observed by the King.

"How long until they reach the castle?" The man asked in a cold, uncaring voice.

"It is estimated that they will arrive anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes." The soldier said slowly, fear prominent on his face. The king leaned back into the throne and thought for a moment.

"Tell the soldiers to barricade all the entrances. No one is allowed to leave under any circumstances, unless directly ordered by me. We will defend the wall as long as possible until help arrives from our allies, the Trokya Empire. Now go, relay my orders." The soldier ran off to go tell the commanding officers about the King's orders. The King sighed and beckoned one of the nearby maids over to him.

"Yes, your majesty?" The maid said politely and walked towards the foot of the throne.

"Take my family through the secret underground passages and travel to the nearby Trokya empire. Give them this crest and tell them I sent you, they will provide food and shelter for you."

"But what about you, your majesty? What will you do?" The maid questioned.

"I will stay and defend the castle. We may be in a bad situation now, but even if we lose, I will not run away. Now go, there isn't much time left." The King said firmly and pressed a hidden switch on his throne. A door opened up behind the throne and the maid ushered a few well dressed people through the door. Out of all of them, one person stood out the most. She was a young girl, maybe 5 or 6 years of age. She carried a small, brown teddy bear in her arms.

"Father!" She ran up to the king with tears in her eyes and handed him the teddy bear.

"Take this, you need it more than I do. Please don't die, you need to come back to me. Promise?" The King trembled as he struggled to hold back his tears.

"I promise I'll come back for you, Celia. Now go to your mother." He hugged her and said his goodbyes, knowing this would most likely be the last time he saw her. The girl ran over to her mother and the group of people quickly walked into the depths of the secret tunnel. The king watched their backs disappear and closed the passageway behind them.
