Shadows of the Throne

Shadows of the Throne

Step out of the shadows and claim your throne...

Chapter 1 by Johnsmith101 Johnsmith101

As a poor, unlucky farmer you've always dreamed of becoming something more - even having ambitions as big as ruling the kingdom of Averlon! But due to your lack of magical abilities, strength and intelligence you've never had a chance, until now...

Shadows of the Throne is a fantasy story that also features a range of magical races and creature. The world of Averlon is vast so any and all magical races are seen (from Orcs to Fauns, Elves to Succubus and more). While humans are the most common race, it's widely accepted that all magical races and creatures can be found!

However, all magic, spells and runes used fall under 6 categories governed by the Gods of Averlon.

Healos - God of Healing and Protection

Seen as the God that is most pure and benevolant. Priests and Priestess dedicate their life to protecting, healing and serving the community. They build churches in cities to honour Healos, with the Church of Healos in Silvercrest being the largest and most prominant church in all of Averlon.

*Only Priests and Priestess can learn greater healing and protection spells under Healos. However they are often unable to learn any other of the 5 types of magic.

Inferna - Goddess of Flames and War

Depending on the person, Inferna is a Goddess associated with either pain or joy. Many have suffered from the wrath of Mages capable of using flames to destroy or protect. Inferna also governs over feasts, blacksmiths and warriors who often pray to her before battles.

Rivarim - Goddess of Water and Travel

Often seen as a wise and intelligent, Rivarim is the Goddess of water. Due to her intelligence, sailors, merchants and adventures pray for her guidance before beginning a journey. Ice magic falls under Rivarim too.

Aerion - God of Wind and Lighting

Wild, carefree and perhaps a little too unhinged, Aerion is the ruler of wind and lighting magic. Both forms of magic can only be accessed by hard studying Mages who dedicate themselves to Aerion, leaving behind all forms of connection. This either breaks or mends people, leading to a split opinion whether Aerion's powerful magic is a blessing or a curse to learn.

Faelorn - Goddess of Life and Earth

Opposite to Aerion, Faelorn is a motherly Goddess who nurtures and respects the nature and earth. All magic of Faelorn relates to the forests and animals, leading to many Druids and Fauns drawing from her power. Some Mages can learn this magic too.

Karnath - God of **** and Shadows

The most feared among the Mages, the magic of Karnath is both dangerous to learn and use. Most magic of Karnath discovered only relates to **** itself, leading to unfavourable people to learn. Rogue's and villains pray for Karnath to sneak or strike their enemies.

To finish...

There are other rarer types of magic that will be featured in the story. But here are the most common and used ones that are seen throughout the story! Feel free to add your own chapters with your original character and story! Just make sure to still stick to the theme of rising up to take the throne of Averlon! All characters are 18+
