You know something about Sam?

Yes

"Where is Sam?" she shouted as she got up from her chair. "You know something!" Fuck. There was not much more I could do now. It was truth time.

"Sit down Cindy, I'll explain." Shakingly she sat down on her chair, her eyes fixed on mine. "I do know something. As I said, this is my and my boyfriend's apartment. His name is Charlie Miller. "I know him," she interrupted. "He went to school with my Sam." "Yes... Yes, he did." I said. This was horrible. I was gonna have to figure out some lie to tell her because the truth was not an option. Well, some of it was fine, but the whole truth was not happening. "After you and Jim moved to Florida," I began. She sat up straight. I clearly knew a lot more than she had expected. "Well. Sam's life was not great. But then..." Where on earth was I going with this. "He took this pill." "OH, GOD! Don't tell me he's dead!" She started crying. "No no no no no, nothing like that!" She was hyperventilating a little but soon calmed down enough, listening intently to what I had to say. "Then he took this pill, called X-Change, to help out his friend Charlie." She looked more confused than anything. "The one that turns guys into girls?" she asked. I nodded. "Well turns out, Sam really liked that, and eventually he and Charlie started going out." Her brain was probably going at hyperspeed trying to comprehend, but It was clear that she was not putting the pieces together just yet. "So my Sam is a woman now?" she asked. "Yes." "And he dated Charlie Miller." "Yes." She rubbed her eyes. She still wasn't getting it. I cleared my thorough. "I'm sorry, it's just a lot to take in. So you know Sam?" "Yes," I answered again. "But you said, that Charlie was your boyfriend!" she exclaimed, still not grasping it. "YES! God, were you always this dense?" I screamed. She looked at me startled. A deafening silence filled the room. She was gawking at me. And then, it was like I could see it happening, her expression changed. She was finally putting it together. A dawning comprehension. "You... You're... " "I'm Samantha. Samantha Waters."

We hugged, she cried, I cried. I filled in some more gaps with lies about how I and Charlie got together, and how his family didn't know I used to be a guy. "We would like to keep it that way," I said. "That's okay. As long as you are happy, that's all that really matters," she smiled, wiping a tear from her eye. "Well, that includes telling Jim," I added. "I understand." She said, "He doesn't need to know. I'll just tell him we are friends and that... that I knew your mother or something." I was relieved. She was covering for me. "I'm sorry for not being there more for you when you were growing up. It was hard for me. I regret quite a few of the choices I made." "It's okay mom, I forgive you." "It's tough being a mom," she added. "Yeah, tell me about it," I said. stroking my belly. "OH MY GOD!" she burst out! I'm gonna be a grandmother? I hadn't really thought about that until now. "Yeah, I guess you are," I smiled.
