Warn his father

“I must get to my father and warn him,” says Stewart. “And you must get to safety, my love.”

“I cannot bear to leave you!” replies Chantelle.

“I cannot put you at any further risk,” says the prince. “You must flee to safety, and I will send word to you when this is all sorted. Go to the caverns at the Kennoreth Falls; you will be safe there.”

“And what about this imposter? And what of the chamber maids in the washroom?”

Stewart considers this for a moment. It would not be good for word to get out too soon that he is onto the conspirators’ plans.

“I should kill them all,” says Chantelle, baring her sharp teeth.

“Chantelle!” Stewart puts a restraining hand against her chest. “The ladies have done nothing wrong! And as for this imposter, whether I like it or not, this is one of my siblings. He or she is worth more to us alive — at least until we have more information.”

“Then let me stay and interrogate this fiend,” replies Chantelle with a fierce light in her eyes.

Stewart considers this. He desperately needs to know what is going on, but Chantelle seems to be a bit unhinged at the moment. With precious time ticking away, he must decide.
