The hallway

His parents were in the next room and the sound of the door closing probably grabbed their attention. Nate would have to move fast. He crouched bare outside his door frantically looking around him. He was in a long hallway that ran the length of the building. In the middle were two elevators, plus stairwells on either side. He was closer to the elevators, but not only would he have to wait for one to arrive, he didn't know who or what he would find waiting for him when he got in or out. He didn't even know where he was trying to go. He really wasn't in the mood for this. He was surrounded by rooms he could try and enter, but he didn't know what awaited him on the other side of any of them, other than the two nearest to him. If he went up or down some floors he could buy himself more time. He thought he heard a rumbling sound coming from his parents room.
