Stairs

Nate bolted down the hallway towards the stairs before any of the doors around him opened. He was glad the carpet floor hid the sound of his footprints. He reached the door and burst through, where every sound he made was amplified in the cement stairwell. He grabbed the railing and looked up and down. He decided it would be better to go downstairs, as he would get trapped if he was caught on an upstairs floor. He moved quickly down the steps before anyone saw or heard him. He tried doing that cool slide down the railing on his hip, but without any pants his skin just clung to the metal and he couldn't move. He reached the bottom floor and looked out the window in the door.

He was on the bottom floor with the lobby, the indoor pool, the dining hall, and several staff closets. He could see that someone was sitting at the lobby desk. They looked like they were packing up for the night. Their shift must be ending and the hotel must be closing for the night. He could leave the hotel from the exit closest to him without being caught by the staff, but he would have nowhere to go once he got outside. He would be naked on the street with no way to get back in. Or he could walk up and ask the person behind the desk for a key to get back into his room.
