Species and Races
Human Species:
The human species divide into two distinct groups; Homo Sapiens Trivialis, Homo Sapiens Bellua. Both share almost every physical trait, from phenotypes to lifespan and sexual productivity. Both are very young and short lived species, with the average lifespan of about 90 years. Human pregnancies often last 9 months.
The Humans are the newcomers to the world, no one knows where they have come from, but as soon as they came, they reproduced far faster than the other species and their kingdoms overtook most of the habitats of the other species.
Homo Sapiens Trivialis:
"Simple Humans", humanoid beings who are the standard for every story, the vanilla species. This is the largest group of humanoids in existence, surpassing any other humanoid group by millions. They procreate fast and live short lives comparatively, but the ability to have more children in shorter span of time meant they overtook the ancient elven kingdoms.
They are the most diverse, phenotypes ranging in height, bodyshape, facial structure, skin tone etc. Their skin colour can range from dark to pale.
Trivialis have no innate magical manipulation ability, their only access to magic is through the formulaic spellcasting type of magic.
Homo Sapiens Bellua:
"Touched by Magic" humans, when Trivialis first came to the world, a group of virtuous individuals were bestowed with magic, either morphing them to different more "bestial" subraces, or giving them the innate ability to use life essence manipulation. Many of the Bellua bred back into the Trivialis race, while there are more secluded communities of "pure" Bellua scattered around the world. The Bellua race has a smaller population than the Trivialis, and due to the Trivialis culture often being xenophobic, offsprings between the two races can be shunned by the Triviali.
Bellua communities include; Kitsune, Neko, Futanari etc.
Elven Species:
Elves were the first wide spread humanoids, the first ones to build cities and societies, they spread far and wide throughout the world. They are less diverse than the humans, only having a few phenotypes, very specific to their races, but all elves share the pointed ears. Their lifespan is vast compared to the humans, an average age of 1,000 years. Elven pregnancies often last 3 years. Their reproductive speed is much lower than the humans, elven males show much lower virility compared to human males, and females show lesser fertility. Elven male can only produce one living child at a time, unable to produce another unless the first has died, females have no such restrictions.
Ashani Elves:
Often referred to as "High Elves", these are taller than the average human, light in complexation and have bright hair, usually ranging from almost silverish blond to darker shades of blond. All Ashani elves share roughly the same body shape, both females and males, wide hips, slim waist, wider shoulders and bust, long legs and a narrow sharp face structure. Most humans see the Ashani Elves as indistinct from one another apart from small differences.
The Ashani are known for their battle prowess, having much higher agility and dexterity than any human warrior.
Only the royal line of the Ashani and its offshots have access to life essence manipulation, making only nobility have access to it and Elven Manipulators seen as elated and holy. Ashani elves disdain human Spellcasting magic and see it as a perversion of nature.
To shield themselves from extinction by human expansion, Ashani elves used humans to bolster the elven population, creating Tamari, half-elven half-human, elves. The Ashani did that by both **** human males and females, or luring them with promises.
Dranie Elves:
Dranie or "Dark Elves" are tall, lean elves. Complexion is pale and their hair colour varies between raven black, to purple, to silver and to white. Dranie elves are extremely xenophobic and meritocratic, believing only the strongest should procreate and rule.
Due to the human expansion and the Dranie refusing to follow the Ashani footsteps, the Dranie population is virtually extinct with only small communities scattered throughout the world.
All Dranie elves have access to life essence manipulation.
Tamari Elves:
Not really a different race of elves, but the offsprings of the breeding between Ashani Elves and humans (of any kind). The physical features, as well as magical ones, completely dependant on their parents'. Tamari are the most diverse between the elves but suffer from being short-lived compared to other elves, with the average age of 200 years. As well as are completely sterile, unable to reproduce.
Most Tamari elves living in Ashani elves serve as their slaves or thralls under their parent, seen as an inferior race of elves.
Most Tamari communities who live outside of the Ashani Matriarchy tend to adopt orphans from different species and races, imitating the other races.
Primordials and Elementals:
The most illusive and solitary of the humanoids, most of them are the result of some Divine manipulation of life in a certain area.
For example, forest nymphs materialize from the sexual energies created when two Divines have intercourse in a forest, a place with vast amount of life essence etc.
There are some folklore stories about these humanoids, they usually keep to themselves and their corner of the world, rarely straying too far from their place of birth. Though not immortal, they reincarnate in the same place they died, reborn a new and essentially as a new individual.
Magical abilities depend on the magic which birthed them.
Divine Humanoids:
The "First-born" The Divine Humanoids were the first humanoids in the world, direct creations of the Gods. They are often seen by the other groups as Angels, Demons, Succubi or Draconic in nature. Each society has other traditions and other point of views on the Divine Humanoids. They are always depicted as perfect and beautiful, enchanting in their visage. They are immortal in nature but can be killed.
Divine humanoids have access to both life essence and energy manipulation magic, allowing them to shape the world as they see fit. They are much more powerful and have access to much more Arcane Energy than any other magic user.
Now they are believed to be mythical creatures, as though they never existed but in stories of the younger races. But their blood runs through the veins of individuals in the young races, the ability to become such a being can be unlocked when certain conditions apply.
NOTE TO WRITERS:
Make sure that if you bring any races into the story they follow the same structure. Factions or communities you create don't have to be strict, people are different and have different moral values, they aren't monolithic. So for example Bellua Humans don't have to be shunned in all human societies, but this xenophobia is very wide spread in KINGDOM_TITLE. Not all Ashani elves see the Half-Elves as inferior, but most Ashani Elves who are part of the Ashani kingdom do have a superiority complex.
