Chapter 4 by MidbossMan MidbossMan

Will Ursula catch up with the thief or be interrupted on the way?

She is ready to corner the thief, but they won't be alone...

After tailing the thief deeper into the alleys, pressing the back of her dark, frilled dress against dusty alley-way walls in a way that felt as dirty as she hoped her night's proceedings would be, but not nearly as sexually liberating, Ursula Wilmette finally found the man coming to a dead end. The surprise: he wasn't actually alone. Other folks were hidden all around the back lot, squatting in barrels, behind boxes, and everything else. He probably had some suspicion he would be tailed and had gone straight to his friends, hoping to set an ambush.

Of course, the counselor of the church was well-studied enough to know her basic math. Zero times ten still equals zero. It didn't matter if one thief or ten confronted her... she had the blessing of Geod behind her and the power of an angel. There was no chance she was going to be overwhelmed by any number of thieves, armed or otherwise. Unless they turned out to be a whole cadre of demon army soldiers, there was no possibility of her loss.

"No possibility... hm..."

Ursula pressed her fist to her chin thoughtfully and waited in the alley, as she pondered her best course of action. If she went in as an angel, she could mop them up so thoroughly they'd be begging for Geod's forgiveness. They might even mistake her for the angel they'd stolen the feathers from, which would be useful in terms of drawing heat off of Clara. On the downside, she'd have to reveal her angel form and... "Yes. There's nothing else in particular I'm missing out on," she fibbed, as a certain idea tugged at the back of her mind.

On the other hand... if she approached as a human, she could preserve the hidden nature of her power. The thieves would probably be much cockier, seeing just a single, ordinary woman. She could still easily defeat any number of thieves... or... "No. There's no other particular plan that occurs to me," she again lied to herself, as if she was trying to convince both Geod and herself.

Will Ursula approach as an angel or as a human?
