As an angel, she'll give these sinners the punishment they deserve

"Almighty Geod, these sinners have earned your wrath. I shall punish them in a way that is most pleasing in your eyes," she announced out loud, holding her right hand out and cupping its fingers into an circular shape. From that cradle, a long, glowing shaft slowly came into view, then a wicked, sharp spear tip, as translucent as glass. The bottom of the spear tapped against the ground as it finished its formation. A halo shined into existence above her head, as her magnificent white wings spread from the back of her dress, forming without spoiling the black, velvet-textured fabric. The counselor was ready to begin a new sort of inquisition.

Her purpose was utterly evident as she stepped into the back alley to confront the thief. "End of the line," Ursula warned the hooded figure, pointing her spear outward. "Say your prayers to Geod and I may have mercy upon you."

"Prayers to Geod?! Geod takes an awful lot, doesn't he?!" the man complained; his voice sounded vaguely familiar, but with his head hooded and his face covered by a brown, cloth covering on the lower half, it was hard to make out his identity. Whatever the case, his eyes were glaring with agitation. "Nothing I offered to Geod, whether it was the faith I freely gave or the possessions his minions took from me, ever came to anything, angel! That's why I figure it's time for your kind to pay me back. All I want is a handful of feathers to sell for a paltry sum. Are Geod's minions so greedy they won't even offer me that?!"

Ursula peaked one eyebrow with a mixture of impatience and confusion. Sure... the church did press people for donations, but it wasn't as though anyone had ever been ****. Weirder still, this guy sounded like he had some sort of history with angels... That shouldn't be possible. There were only a few angels in Merridan and all of them would be disguised within the church... Which angel of the church had wronged the man in the past? "None of that is any excuse for such heretical thievery. Drop the feathers and leave them."

"Ha! A whole back full of feathers and you can't spare a small purse of them for your faithful? If you're Geod's beloved, then I guess that bastard's hated me from day one," the thief laughed, sounding all the more spiteful. "If you angels really think you're so superior to us humans, let's see how you handle this!!" The tan-skinned man shot one arm, with toned biceps, strapped by crisscrossing leather bangles, into the air, making a two fingered call-sign to let the others in waiting know how was the time to attack.
