Red hair and a lot of trouble

When Eleara awoke, it was laying on the cold stone floor of the temple, her head ringing like she'd been hit by a bludgeoing weapon. Slowly geatting her bearings, she took note of her missing staff before a more pressing concern reared itself.

A single tuft of hair wandered into her vision, but rather than her beautiful elven blonde, it was red, a light sahe of red. A quick and panicked confirmation told her it was her own. Fumbling up, she found a pool of water, and took a look upon her reflection.

She was absolutely stunned, seeing the large ears now adorning her head, but before she could even start to take in what had happened. she heard light footsteps nearby. Quickly looking, she located the source, her enemy, the half-elf. But she didn't look like a half-elf monk anymore.

Like herself, a pair of large fox ears now dominated her head. The owner of which was angrily glaring at her.

"Great, just look at what you did! You made our bodies absorb the relic's magic, and turned us into this!", she yelled at her, but Eleara's mind was elsewhere. How was she no longer an elf? How had she and this half-elf been turned into kitsune?

"You know what happened? Tell me this instant!", she ordered, and despite her apparent misgivings, the former monk did just that, though probably not because she was ordered to, but beause it would be helpful.

"When elf or half-elf bodies absorb great amounts of magic, our bodies are changed beyond our control. We were both turned into kitsune because we absorbed energy from the same source after a certain idiot broke the vase containing it. The only way to return to your precious elf body is to have the magic removed and channeled into something for containment", she explained, a sneer on her face as she said the last part clearly holding some resentment towards Eleara, who pondered the information, as well as the insult directed at her.

"I will personally make you take that back.... after undoing this mess. And you will come with me. You are as much to blame for this as I am, attacking for no reason like.... like some savage, and not warning me about the stupid vase. Besides, even as a dirty half-elf, you must have some pride in your real body, so you'll no doubt want this undone too", Eleara said as she composed herself. Kitsune or not, she was an elven princess, not some scared girl that would let the unknown scare her. Even if this body felt incredibly odd, her newfound tail doing a lot to upset her balance.

Despite some grumbling, Lierin accepted the proposal to travel together for safety, as clearly, what Eleara had aid about wanting her original body back was true. As such, the duo headed out of the temple, hoping for a relatively easy trip back to civilization.
