Onward to the next class

Ben left Mrs. Parker’s class thinking about what to do next. Ben could ditch school or this class to have some fun with another unsuspecting person but decided not to. Ben decided to go to his next class to do something that he always wanted to do. Ben’s next class was Chemistry with Mr. Wilson, and he was the most boring teacher he ever had in his life. Despite being a chemistry teacher, Mr. Wilson never used any of the school’s equipment to perform experiments with the class. It was always lecture after lecture about what makes up the chemicals and what happens when you mix certain chemicals together. Today would be another boring class for Ben, but he knew just what to do. Ben came into class, went to his seat, and fell asleep without any worry at all.

The next thing Ben knows, he’s waking up to the sound of the bell signaling that it was time for him to go to lunch. Ben happily woke up from his nap and headed to the cafeteria. Ben didn’t pack a lunch since he was in a rush, so he had to eat the cafeteria’s food which wasn’t great even on the best days. Thankfully, the school was serving pizza today, so he grabbed a slice and sat down next to his friend, Alex.

“Hey Ben, how’s it going?” said Alex as took a bite of his cheese pizza.

“Great, I think things are only going to get better from here. I can feel it.”

“Did you finally confess your feelings to Kate?” questioned Alex as he cracked open a soda.

“Way to hit it where it hurts man. I wasn’t talking about my love life.”

“Sorry man, you always talk about her, so I just assumed she returned your feelings since you were in such a good mood.”

“No, it's okay. It's not going to work out anyway since she already has a boyfriend” said Ben as he started to eat his pizza.

“It's her loss man but if that’s not what got you in such a good mood, what did?”

Part of Ben wanted to tell Alex about his watch but quickly changed his mind about it since you never knew who you can trust.

“I managed to come late today to Mrs. Parker’s class and avoided any form of punishment.”

“Of course, it's normal for you to come in late, so it makes sense why Mrs. Parker wouldn’t punish you for it.”

“That’s not true, I’ve come late before, and Mrs. Parker has punished me for it.”

“Well yeah, it wasn’t normal for you to show up late at the time, so you were punished but now it is, so you won’t be punished.”

Ben speculated that the watch’s powers are what’s compelling Alex to tell him how normal it all is. Ben now knows for a fact that the watch must have made his current actions normal and not his past actions normal since history wasn’t changed, and Alex can still recall what’s happening. Also, that while the other setting made people ignore him, this setting just made them accept everything like it was well normal.

“You okay, this is pretty standard stuff?”

“Yeah, I’m fine.”

“All right then, by the way, did you hear about how Tiffany is going to confess to Dan after school today. She’s probably going to be wearing pink panties too.”

At first, Ben was going to agree that it was obvious that she needed to wear pink panties, but that feeling faded quickly, and he was left with confusion.

“Why does she need to wear pink panties to confess to the school’s star quarterback?”

“Duh, if a woman confesses to their crush or love interest while wearing pink panties, then it is believed that chances of them accepting increase exponentially.”

“When did this happen?”

“Oh, I think this superstition has been popular since last week. I thought you knew already?”

Something inside Ben told him that this common sense wasn’t supposed to exist. Ben was confused about it until he remembered the watch and thought that maybe this change in common sense was changed by the watch. Ben thought that maybe he might’ve caused the change, but he never once thought about panties since he got the watch. It must’ve been the person who had the watch before him but why this change and what other changes will he discover too. Ben shook his head but then realized that if the other person could essentially rewrite common sense with this watch couldn’t he do it as well. Probably but Ben had no idea where to even begin since the watch didn’t come with an instruction manual.

“Even if she does wear the pink panties, I’m sure Dan will still reject her since he’s waiting for cheerleading captain, Winter, to confess to him. He says that she should come to him instead of him coming to her, but I doubt that’s going to happen. Also, don’t spread this information, technically speaking only the people on the team are supposed to know about it. I am a little surprised that someone is willing to ask him out after he rejected four other love confessions.”

“Well, I’m sure it has nothing to do with the fact that’s he’s intelligent, handsome, and the star quarterback of the football team. Meanwhile, I’m over here struggling to get girls to look my way at all.”

“The key is to be confident. I’m sure you can do it. I was single for the longest time too before I met Abigail, and things just took off from there.”

“Yeah, confidence...”

Ben's thoughts around things being normal, romantic relationships, and his life.

Normal this and normal that.

“I’m sure that it's perfectly normal for my chemistry class to perform actual experiments too. Like that would ever happen” said Ben as he walked toward his next class.

“Jessica, you work for the only school in the area. This Ben person must go to your school, so you’re my best chance at getting my watch back.”

“You say that but do you even know what his actual name is? Is it Ben like you’ve heard from your slutty girlfriend or is it short for something like Benjamin? Also, what if they're more than one person with that name? Not to mention, even if I knew exactly who it was, I wouldn’t do it. I’m a school counselor, it’s my job to help these students and not ask them to return something that you lost. You’re on your own, I’m not helping you.”

“You don’t have to ask; you could just take it for me.”

“That’s even worse, were you even listening.”

“Shouldn’t family help each other out, sis?”

“I thought I could talk some sense into you, but luckily I don’t have to” as he snapped his fingers and his sister’s eyes widened.

“Master, what can I do for you?”

“Your normal personality Jessica was disobeying me, and I can’t have that, so I called you out Jess.”

“Thank you, master. I always live to serve.”

“Do I have to catch you up to speed?”

“No master, I’m always listening and awaiting your call. I will carry out this mission with the utmost importance and diligence.”

“Good, don’t disappoint me.”
