Use his power

"Alright miss Grey." Johnny said with a sigh. "I'll tell you what my gift, as you put it, is."

"Thank you Johnny." She said with a smile. "I appreciate that your being honest with...."

Her eyes met his and Johnny felt a rush of energy flow through his body and out his eyes. Jean instantly froze in mid sentence and her arms went limp to her sides. Johnny knew from his past that this was a sign that she was under his influence until he broke eye contact.

"Alright miss Grey." Johnny said in a sort of forceful voice. "While we have our chat you are going to do something for me. Until we leave this room you are going to be unable to lie to me. In fact you will answer all my questions I ask you as best as you can without withholding any information. Also you will not try to leave this room until I say you can. Do you understand?"

"Yes..." Jean said in almost a whispered monotone. Johnny smiled and broke eye contact. Jean;s body started to move again. Slowly at first but then she seemed to come back to her sense completely.

"Alright Johnny." She said as if nothing happened. "What exactly is your ability?"

"Well... " Johnny hesitated. "When people make eye contact with me they go into a sort of trance like state and I can give them commands."

"Eye contact? So your power comes from your eyes." She said seeming shocked. "Can you close your eyes then. Just to be safe? I dont want to accidentally get effected by it."

"Well... Um..." Johnny stammered. "You have already been effected by it. I used my power on you a second ago to make sure you can't lie to me."

"I don't rember you meeting yes with me." Jean said as she shifted in her chair a bit. "And I wouldn't lie to you anyways."

"Oh really?" Johnny said with a bit of a smile. "Let's test it. I will ask you a question and I want you to try to lie about the answer. What is one of your biggest secrets that you haven't told anyone?"

"I... I...." Jean struggled trying not to answer. "I use my gift to spy on people's private thoughts whenever I get the chance. It's a thrill to be able to use my power and not have anyone notice."

jean's eyes widened. She had not told anyone about that. Not even her best friend and yet here she was telling a guy she had only just met. There was a twinge of fear in that thought but Jean noticed a rush of excitement too.

"See that wasn't so bad." Johnny laughed slightly. "Now please tell me more about why you are here."

O... Ok." Jean said trying to gather her thoughts. "Well I am trying to recruit you for the Xavier School for the gifted. A school where Professor Xavier can teach you on how to use your power. Then if you are willing from there you might be able to join a group of mutants at the school who fight for human/mutant equality known as the X-men."

Johnny almost fell over in his seat. He had heard of the X-men before. A group of mutants that had stopped a crazy scientist from creating giant mutant hunting robots. He had even seen some pictures of a few of them but not Ms. Grey. Johnny's heart was starting to beat faster. This might be his chance to not live in fear any more.

"Alright Ms. Grey" Johnny started.

"Please call me Jean." She interupted.

"Ok Jean." Johnny corrected himself. "You must have seen a lot of mutants with gifts. What are your thoughts on mine?"

Jean stopped to think for a moment. She knew what she would normally say but with her unable to lie she was afraid of what she was actually going to say. She had to pick her words carefully but as she tried she felt as if she had to say the whole truth.

"Honestly..." Jean tried to hold back but couldn't. "They are quite exciting. First that I can't read your mind makes you very mysterious to me. Second your eyes... They remind me of the ability of a cute vampire from a movie I love. I sometimes would fantasize on him using his hypnotic gaze on me and make me his thrall."

Jean blushed as that last part came out. That was another secret she never told anyone. She couldn't stop herself from saying and if she was honest with herself it was kind of hot. But she would never tell Johnny that. Would she?

Johnny was also taken back by her comment. that's when a thought popped into his head. For a moment he disregarded it but the thought it might be possible. He just had to ask.

"Jean." Johnny said and cleared his throat. "I got an offer for you. I have held back my power for so long. I will join your school if you let me practice it on you."
