You soon realize how stupid that edit was so you try and remove it, but the app isn't responding. Suddenly, a new message pops up on the screen.

It reads: "ERROR. APPLICATION HAS BEEN DESTABILIZED. RESTRAIN SUBJECT AND ACCESS GUIDELINES FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS."

You panic. Your wife obviously reacts to your sudden change in demeanor with concern.

"What's going on? Is everything ok?" Molly asks.

"Fuck! Um-the app just broke. I need to check and see what went wrong," you reply quickly as you run out of the room.

You reach your computer and access the hidden file containing the classified details of your project. The man who created the mind-altering technology created a series of guidelines for you in case you came across a problem with the app. You open the document and skim through until you see "Destabilization Guidelines".

It reads: "The technology you will be working with is very sensitive. If I had my way, I would have taken a year or two to polish it. But the project needed to cut corners. As a result, repeated use of my creation will begin to destabilize it.

Should this ever happen, it is best to restrain the subject as soon as possible. It is likely that within an hour of the app being destabilized the subject will begin acting abnormally. My research suggests that when the app destabilizes while a subject's microchip is reacting to it, commands given to the subject become increasingly exaggerated.

I have also found evidence that would suggest that some existing traits will also change drastically.

In order to correct this, you will need to sever the connection between the app and the subject, recalibrate it, and then manually reconstruct the subjects original state slowly over time. This will likely take a month or two so it is important to act quickly.

Lastly, it is important you know about the contingency system in the microchips. It is crucial that no one learns about the microchips or my mind control technology. Since there is a chance that the subject could briefly escape custody and engage in public activities, we have created what is known as the contingency system. All microchips within a 1-mile radius of a destabilized microchip will activate, with the exception of yours and government officials' microchips. This will cause whatever the subject is doing to appear completely normal to people in the area, and they will be unable to retain memories of the subject.
