Bloodlines were valuable right?

As Izuko contemplated his options, he started leaning further and further towards options 2 and tentatively called it his plan of action. That lead to him contemplating which village to head to first, which in turn lead to him contemplating the foreign villages and their relationship to Konoha, which in turn lead to him remembering the Kumo incident.

It happened... was it a decade ago? Give or take a few years, that was about right.

Izuko was a child back then and hadn't paid very close attention, but from what he could recall the Kumo incident occurred when the Kumo feigned interest in a new peace treaty and sent their head ninja as a diplomat. What Konoha hadn't realized at the time was that Kumo had no interest in peace. Instead, the mission was a cover for a **** attempt on Hinata Hyuuga, the heiress to the Hyuuga Clan, and possessor of the Byakugan bloodline.

Kumo had identified the reason for its lackluster performance in the previous three ninja wars as a side-effect of its lack of bloodlines and was determined to get more. For the past number of years, Kumo had been very aggressive on that front, **** unwilling bloodline users, welcoming in willing ones from Mizu no Kuni, and so forth.

Konoha, on the other hand, was much too lax on that front, resting on its laurels after winning all three of the Great Wars, as well as surviving both the Kyuubi and the surprise attack by the Suna-Oto forces. Most of this was done on the back of the bloodline wielding clans.

Behind the scenes though, this power was being eroded. The Uchiha clan was functionally extinct after the Uchiha Massacre. Both remaining members were traitors. The Senju clan was similarly down to a single female. The main branch of the Kurama clan was also down to a single female.

While Kumo's star was rising, Konoha's was slowly dimming, something that would alarm any patriot.

This, in turn, leads to Izuko's new plan. Get more bloodlines for Konoha and ensure the ones already here didn't go extinct. The only question remaining was...
