In the chest

The bolt of energy hit Katarina right in the chest. Even as the hammer, having already gained enough momentum struck the imp directly in the lower jaw with a satisfying crunch. The imp was blown off his feet and hit the ground flat on his back. Awkwardly scrambling back away from Katarina the demon held his broken jaw even as his eyes widened with fear.

Katarina stepped forward cautiously then stopped. For some reason all she could see was pink in the lower part of her field of vision. Looking down to search for the cause Katarina gasped. her chain-mail was glowing pink. Just as bright if not brighter than the ball of energy that the imp had thrown at her. It seems that her chain-mail had absorbed the thing.

More confident, Katarina moved forward. "WAIT WAIT WAIT!" The imp shouted in desperation. His speech was slurred, probably due to the broken jaw or maybe just slightly concussed. "Pleas mistresssssss wait! I'll trade for information jusss please meee merciful. Doon' hit poor imp again. Imp is sorryyyy."

Stars, are all imps this whiney?

Anger raged up in Katarina but at the moment she really did not know what was going on. As far as she knew no demon had ever set foot in their little town of Pinehirst. Also the chain-mail still glowing is scaring her a little. She needed to find out what the in the stars happened there. Still, why would she even believe what an imp said?
