I managed to find an empty desk in English, "Mr. Doe so good of you to join us." No different than any previous English teacher I ever had. A full on dick. I was even in class just before the late bell so I don't see the problem.

Mr. Lassider met me at my desk with books in hand. "Since you were not here last week you don't know we started a new reading assignment. You are to read one of these three books and write your own story using the same themes." One book looked like a romance novel. The other looked like sci-fi and the other looked like it was set in the old south judging by the plantation looking house on the cover.

"Are these the only options?"

"They're the only options left." Great. I sighed and stared at my options, "You have until the end of class to choose." He turned to the rest of the class, "Everyone else, get to work."

I skimmed the back of the romance novel just to get it out of the way; Strangely it was told from the male protag's perspective. Hmm, he was on the swim team in college. It seemed to be more about sports than romance.

The second book was the southern novel but not the old south so that's good, the girl apparently was a debutante torn between two men and caught in the politics of prom. What politics is there in becoming a prom queen exactly?

The third was indeed a sci-fi novel set in an alternate reality however where the Europeans never came to America leaving the native americans to become a power enough to defend themselves.
