Professor Greyburg's guide to controlling time

"Huh, must be some sci-fi thing," You say reading it "but I've never heard of a Professor Greyburg."

You flip it open seeing a picture of the same watch you are holding and a list of instructions.

Press to freeze time, it says with an arrow pointing the button on the top.

Press again to cancel time freeze

Twist counter clockwise to reverse time

Twist clockwise to accelerate time

Pull and twist clockwise to age subject

Pull and twist counter clockwise to de-age subject.

There are several more pages of these kinds of instructions. Then a chapter headed advanced options and finally a page printed entirely in bold headed WARNING! You should probably read the whole thing before doing anything else but, sceptic that you are, you toss it aside. It all seems like nonsense anyway. There's no way a simple watch could control time and to prove the point to yourself you press the button.

There is a soft click and a sudden absolute silence falls. You've never experienced anything quite like it. There is no traffic noise, no bird song, no sound of muffled voices from the other apartments, not even the slightest breeze to break the stillness. The silence roars in your ears as you marvel at the sight of a fly frozen in mid-air. Rushing to the window you look out on a truly surreal scene. Pedestrians paused in mid-step, birds hanging still in the air, the morning rush hour traffic silent and unmoving as far as the eye can see.

Your knuckles go white as you grip the watch tight, the cold hard metal reassuringly solid in your hand. You still can't quite believe it but the evidence is undeniable, the watch really can stop time and probably do the other things the book says it can too. You sit down feeling dazed by the revelation.

You now have command of one of the fundamental forces of the universe. The question is how are you going to use it?
