Chapter 9 by doktork3 doktork3

The following day

Meeting with Ashley

Kevin woke up to the familiar sensation of his body shifting back to its original form. The X-Change pill's effects had worn off, and he was once again himself. He stretched, feeling a mix of relief and excitement. Last night's events still lingered in his mind, and he couldn't wait to share the evidence with Ashley. He got out of bed, got dressed, and headed to the kitchen to grab a quick breakfast before meeting Ashley.

As he poured himself a bowl of cereal, he couldn't help but think about Kelly's experiences the night before. He had never felt so alive, so connected to his body. The memories of the sensations he had discovered still sent shivers down his spine.

As Kevin walked out the door, he couldn't shake off the lingering sensations of being Kelly. He felt a slight tingle in his fingers, remembering how they had grazed against his skin, sending shivers down his spine. He pushed the thoughts aside, focusing on the task at hand. He had to meet Ashley and show her the evidence he had collected. The recording on his phone was still fresh in his mind, and he couldn't wait to see the look on Ashley's face when she heard Colt's voice, clear as day, hitting on Kelly.

He walked down the street, the morning sun casting a warm glow over the pavement.

As Kevin walked up the path to Ashley's front door, he couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. He was excited to share the evidence he had collected, but also nervous about how Ashley would react. He took a deep breath, pushed the doorbell, and waited. The door swung open, and Ashley's bright smile greeted him. "Hey, Kevin! Come on in!" she said, stepping aside to let him in.

Kevin smiled back, feeling a pang of affection for his friend. He had known Ashley for years, and he had always been drawn to her kindness and warmth. He followed her into the living room, taking in the familiar surroundings.

As they sat down on the couch, Ashley gestured to the coffee table, where a steaming cup of coffee and a plate of freshly baked cookies waited. "Help yourself, Kevin. I just baked those this morning." Kevin smiled, feeling a warmth in his chest at the thoughtful gesture. He poured himself a cup of coffee and took a sip, savoring the rich aroma.

Ashley chatted on about her day, telling him about a new project she was working on at work. Kevin listened intently, asking questions and making supportive noises. But as the conversation went on, he couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that had been building up inside him.

As Ashley paused to take a sip of her coffee, Kevin saw his chance to steer the conversation in the direction he had been waiting for. He set his cup down, his eyes locking onto Ashley's, and took a deep breath. "Ashley, can I talk to you about something?" he asked, his voice low and serious. Ashley's expression changed, her brow furrowing slightly as she set her cup down. "What's up, Kevin? You look like something's bothering you." Kevin hesitated for a moment, his mind racing with the words he had been wanting to say for so long.

Kevin's eyes locked onto Ashley's, his voice barely above a whisper. "I have something to show you, something that I think you need to see." He paused, his hands fidgeting with the phone in his pocket. Ashley's expression changed, a hint of concern etched on her face. "What is it, Kevin?" she asked, her voice soft and gentle. Kevin took a deep breath, his heart racing with anticipation. He slowly pulled out his phone, his fingers trembling as he navigated to the recording app. "I recorded a conversation last night," he said, his voice steady. "A conversation between Colt and... someone else." Ashley's eyes narrowed, her brow furrowing in confusion.

Kevin's eyes locked onto Ashley's, his voice steady as he continued. "Colt is cheating on you, Ashley. I know it's hard to hear, but I have proof." He paused, taking a deep breath before pressing play on the recording. The sound of Colt's voice filled the room, his words dripping with flirtation as he spoke to Kelly. Kevin watched Ashley's face, searching for any sign of emotion, but her expression remained stoic, a mask of calmness that betrayed nothing.

As the recording played on, Kevin's eyes never left Ashley's face. He saw no flash of anger, no hint of sadness, just a serene silence that unnerved him.

As the recording came to an end, Ashley's expression remained calm, a gentle smile still playing on her lips. She leaned forward, her eyes locking onto Kevin's, and spoke in a soft, melodious tone. "Thank you, Kevin. I really appreciate you looking out for me like this." Her words were laced with sincerity, and Kevin's heart swelled with affection for her. He had expected anger, or at least a hint of concern, but instead, Ashley seemed... unruffled.

Kevin's heart sank as Ashley spoke, her voice still soft and gentle. "I know it might sound like that, Kevin, but I really do trust Colt. He's a good man, and I know he would never do anything to hurt me." She smiled, her eyes full of warmth and kindness. "Thank you again for looking out for me, though. I'm lucky to have a friend like you."

Kevin's eyes widened in surprise as Ashley's words hung in the air. He had expected her to be upset, or at least concerned, but instead she seemed almost... amused. "You don't think he's cheating on you?" Kevin asked, his voice barely above a whisper. Ashley's smile grew wider, and she leaned in closer to Kevin. "Oh, no, I'm sure he's not," she said, her voice dripping with confidence. "I think he's just... distracted. Yes, that's the word. Distracted." She nodded to herself, as if affirming her own thoughts.

Kevin felt a pang of frustration. Hadn't she just heard the recording?

Kevin nodded, feeling a mix of disappointment and relief. He had hoped that the evidence would be enough to open Ashley's eyes, but at the same time, he was relieved that she wasn't hurt. "I understand, Ashley."

Kevin's face remained neutral, but his mind was racing with thoughts of how to prove Colt's infidelity once and for all. He **** a smile onto his face, trying to appear nonchalant, and nodded in response to Ashley's assurance that Colt was not cheating on her. "Well, I should probably get going," Kevin said, taking a step back towards the door. Ashley nodded in agreement, her smile still plastered on her face. "Yes, I'm sure you have things to attend to. Thanks again for coming over, Kevin. I really appreciate it."

Kevin turned to leave, and Ashley followed him to the door.

So what's Kevin's next move?
