No Hands

“Okay, we’ll change the bandages once a day but I don’t think you’ll have use of your hands for a couple of weeks,” Dr McGee explained, putting the kit back into drawer. You looked down at your wraps, wondering how you were going to go about your day to day activities being mummified up to the wrist. You couldn’t even type on a keyboard like this. The clever scientist seemed to mirror your thoughts. “We have a dictation application that’s got very good speech to text,” she told you. “I’ll get you set up. Sister Eye?”

“Yes, Doctor McGee,” came a voice from the ether. You looked around the empty first aid bay and realised that the voice had come through some kind of invisible, ubiquitous speaker system. Its digitized timbre sounded similar to the Watchtower Guardians but felt larger, possibly because it was like the voice of God as it echoed in this small sterile room. It also sounded more distinctly feminine.

“Please enable the dictation service for Doctor Doe’s login,” McGee told the voice. “And increase his access to level to Kappa 6 for additional voice commands.”

“Access granted,” came the reply almost immediately. “Doctor John Doe now at Kappa 6.” Without further context, or knowledge of what access level you had to start with, the general vibe at least felt positive to you. The doctor just smiled.

“Thank you Sister Eye.”

“Is there anything else, Doctor McGee?” queried the voice.

“That’s all,” she said. And there was no reply. With your hands and the access sorted you and Tina returned to the main lab.

“Sister Eye?” you wondered out loud as you two walked down the corridor. Tina nodded and went back into exposition mode.

“The Watchtower’s main Artificial Intelligence system,” she began. “Based on Batman’s Brother Eye system but Cyborg made sure that she would always act in our best interest.” You weren't sure what that meant but ok.

“She?” you again questioned.

“Well we call her Sister Eye so that stuck. And she’s developed a bit of a personality,” finished the doctor’s explanation. At this you nodded.

“Last question,” you said, since this had been on your mind since the moment it happened. The doctor smiled pleasantly at you thinking you had more queries about the AI system. Your train of thought went elsewhere. “Why did you jerk me off into your bare hand?” you asked, and with that now out in the open you could tell the memory flashed before the doctor’s eyes. She blinked at you but maintained her stern expression.

“The glove was covered in lubricant,” she said matter-of-factly. “That would have contaminated your sample more than anything on my hand.” Oh yeah. Of course. That was a fair reason and you could only nod, but you could see a faint flush rise in the doctor’s cheeks as she remembered your heat on her skin.

Now back in the lab the doctor stopped you at the door. “Maybe you should go back to your quarters to rest and recover,” she suggested, then her eyes drifted down to your crotch before returning to your face. “And replenish.”

You swallowed, feeling a little hot under the collar despite the entirely professional air of the interaction and suggestion.

“Yeah I’ll go get a snack and get off my feet for a bit I guess,” you said, and with that you parted ways with the doctor and she disappeared into her lab.
