I called out, but then, from over on the bed, my own voice replied "Belay that, activate personal Subroutine Twenty-One Alpha." that was the code for meditation lighting, and I knew at once who was there in the dark even before the dim lights came up.

"Ensign Davis." I Declared.

"Ensign Davis," My Double acknowledged, sitting cross legged on my own bed like he owned the place.

"Was this authorized by your captain?" I asked, and he raised one arched eyebrow quizzically, a gesture I knew all too well.

"The Brevet-Captain of the Justice does not know about our meeting. However, I know the woman, in what the humans used to call 'the physical sense'. She will not be concerned about my taking the initiative in this matter now that you have voted to join the Imperium." my doppelganger replied. His eyes, a dark brown exactly like my own, were shadowed by the dim illumination.

"Then to what do I owe the... intrusion?" I asked.
