Mindy walks to the meal room.

Okay, so far.

She walks out and heads to the meal room. Several people look at her and stare, but most don't for too long. Lots of smiles, a few grins, a few simulated or light clapping.

"Wooah! You're looking good today, rookie!"

"Yeah," another chimed, "she didn't know to wear."

Mindy starts blushing.

One did a whistle and a "hubba hubba."

What is this 'hubba hubba,' Mindy thought, the frickin' 1940s?

She again noticed that most of the people there were women, and all were barefoot. She wondered as such they'd be as looked at, or almost as looked at, by the foot fetishists. Probably. A couple of the maids had nice looking feet.

While the others weren't being their nicest to her, neither did they didn't seem hostile. Some of the remarks and antics had an element of being complimentary. One even playfully called out another co-worker: "Oh your just jealous." Another A-cup-sized woman said. "I now know what I want for my birthday!"

"Mindy! What are you doing naked?"

She saw Annette smiling in greeting.

"Didn't she tell you?"

"Missus Winthrop? No. She just told me not to bring you food for a month, I didn't know why, but I guess this has something to do with it."

"Yeah, I've been instructed to be naked for three calendar days."

"Oh my poor ami," and Annette embraced her: a couple more looks from the others.

Nonetheless, the hug felt good for a few reasons.

"What happened?"

"Annette, could we not talk about it? I feel so ashamed."

"Mindy, you silly girl. There's no reason to be so ashamed." She grinned, "Not with those breasts."

She put her hands on Mindy's shoulders and gave her another hug. "Don't worry. We will talk nothing about it, at least not the reasons, until you want to. Were you going for your supper?"

"Yes; and Sally told me I have to sit on the table."

"Ohhh. You got...," Annette stopped herself before breaking her word she just made. "..., Don't worry Mindy. You wouldn't be the first."

"No?"

"Generally such are one of Missus W's punishments; though a few women have done it willingly. While it's not explicitly mentioned, you're actually allowed to go naked—save for the maid's collars and anklets."

"What are they about?"

"Well I suppose the collar thing is part of most traditional maid's outfit, though I'm sure there's a bit of BDSM involved, and it's pretty obvious that whoever's in charge has a foot fetish. Generally all the women have to wear anklets. Missus W is sometime barefoot, sometimes shod—particularly outdoors, but generally she has a collection of fancy anklets and barefoot sandals.

"Rumours have it that she and other women will go to formal occasions unshod but with barefoot sandals...,

"It's wearing like high heels to her, I suppose."

Mindy thought about one job she had as a clerk for about a year where she and the many women there could wear sandals, flip-flops, or even go barefoot instead of wearing heels: she might have kept the job were it not for a few other overriding factors.

As for barefoot sandals:

"Good morning, Mindy! Are you going to have your supper?"

It was Sally. She was bright and cheerful.

"Mindy, you did a great job cleaning. I think you're doing good—or mostly good."

Sally followed it by laughter, likely ****, though Mindy didn't know if it was devious or simply the appeasement laughter typical of women.

"Thank you Sally. I just want to please you."

"and you are, but first it's breakfast for the day staff and dinner for you. Now remember the seating arrangement. You missed the break a few hours ago, but this might be better. Your dinner, their breakfast: they'll be tipped off to your latter meals. Now run along," said Mrs. Winthrop as she patted Mindy's buttocks.

Mindy entered the meal room.
