Meet Cathy
As I reached the end of the point, I saw the silhouette of a small figure sitting on the log bench that some boy scout had set up for the use of hopeless romantics. Though we hadn't known each other for long, I knew with certainty that Cathy was the one up here tonight.
I walked up behind her and just waited, staring out at the waves under the starlit sky, the cold bite of sea wind feeling refreshing on the skin unshielded by my jacket.
"It's peaceful here."
"It is," I {if Skill Brawling > 0}lied, thinking back to the two fools that I fought on the way.{else}agreed.{endif}
"Alex, what brought you to Sunset Point?"
"That... is a long story," I said, coming around and sitting next to her as she scooted from the center of the bench.
"I have time."
I let out an amused huff, "Not out here, you don't. It's got to be negative ten with this wind chill."
"Negative ten? You mean, what, like fifteen degrees Fahrenheit?"
"Yeah, about that, I guess.... I... I was a Fed, you know; we've been using the Metric System since President Rodriguez' order."
"Ah, yes, President Rodriguez...."
"Cathy, please, let's go inside," I asked... okay, it may have come out more pleading than I had intended.
