Lay down for a few minutes

Alex very much wants to learn what Elaine has to show him, but he has an hour to wait, and he is very tired. He decides to lay down for just a few minutes.

When he opens his eyes, he realizes with a start that he had fallen asleep. How long he was out, he has no idea, but outside it is dark, and the night is still.

He gets up quickly and is about to rush out his door to see if Elaine is waiting for him at the workshop. He stops at his door, however, and realizes that as quiet as the house is, everyone might be asleep. Perhaps it would be better to exit his room through the bedroom window.
