Chapter 2 by Frank89 Frank89

Where do we find Lauren to begin?

Lauren is having a girls' night out

Nikol had only moved into town recently, and she'd managed to land a job at the same company where Lauren was working. She was only about a year younger than Lauren, but the moment she saw her, she immediately considered the young, independent beauty her 'mentor'. Unlike the rest of town, she had no idea who Lauren was or what she had achieved over the years. And frankly, she didn't care. Ice Queen or not, she immediately felt a connection to Lauren. A connection she relentlessly tried to make mutual.

For the first couple of weeks, Lauren had politely shot down many an attempt of getting to know each other from her overeager co-worker. Have lunch break together, watch a movie together, go to the bathroom together. Just what was she thinking? At first, she felt like having an annoying little sister always nagging her about spending time together. But over the months, she had gotten used to the feeling of someone looking up to her. Her other co-workers had always acknowledged her successes -- rightly so, she was the best after all -- but Nikol... That little pixie was literally adoring her every case. She became her number one fan. Not just a fan of her looks, like basically the rest of town. No. A fan of the person she was. Lauren also noticed that this was affecting her as well. She had always been good, but now she made extra sure never to make any mistakes. She liked the idea of being someone's role model, and didn't want to disappoint her. As silly as it might sound, this was a feeling the popular vixen had never experienced before.

Eventually, she relented to Nikol's various attempts at socialising, and the two spent a lunch break together. And another, and another. Since then, they had been talking a lot. One could say it was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Well, friendship might have been a little generous a term. Lauren was still above Nikol in every aspect. That somehow carried over to their 'friendship' as well. Even when Lauren tried to be kind, she usually came off as mean or bitchy, but Nikol didn't mind. She was happy to be close to the super popular and super sexy Lauren. And Lauren liked the fact that she didn't have to act differently in front of Nikol.

Over a next few weeks, the two got increasingly closer to one another. That was how when Nikol asked her to have a girls' night out with her on Saturday, Lauren reluctantly agreed. She had never been a party animal. Everyone knew and loved her (love may not be the right word here), but only a select few had ever gotten really close to her. And those few were not among her most pleasant of memories. While her looks attracted others -- men and women alike -- her inward personality made it hard for her to make real friends. To her defense, she did try. Both at school and at work. It was just hard to let her guard down around others after a few incidents. But deep down she craved a true friend, with whom she could gossip around. This may have been the chance. It was one of those few weekends when she had nothing better to do anyway. It was worth a try. She had no idea what they would be doing as she always did the usual girlie things alone, but hey, it was gotta be better than spending the weekend on her own. Right?

She had no idea what was to come.

How does it start?
