Does Tiffany escape?

Just barely

Thankfully, the water was deep and Tiffany didn't seriously injure herself when she dove in. The current was strong though, and for terrifyingly long amount of time she feared she'd drown. But luck was on her side. The riverbed miraculously turned shallow, and while the current remained powerful, Tiffany was able to vault herself upwards, broke the surface of the water and gained desperately needed air.

With newfound life in her, Tiffany swam. She swam harder than she'd ever thought she could. She swam until her arms ached and her legs were jello. She swam until her heart and lungs protested unbearably. She swam until her body was at, what she thought was, the breaking point.

Then she swam some more.

The river twisted and turned. The canyon mellowed from a thirty foot drop to a pleasant hill. The water forked, turning into various streams and creeks. And the powerful current faded to a gentle flow.

It was nearly an hour later when Tiffany's exhausted body washed up on the bank. She could barely lift her own arms, but she willed herself to turn and lay on her back on the welcome sand. She knew she couldn't afford any lost time, she knew she had to get back to the start and remove her ring, she knew the men were already coming for her.

But her body wouldn't let her. Within a minute, Tiffany was asleep.

How long is Tiffany out for? And what does she awake to?
