Chapter 3 by Marcus Dark Marcus Dark

I Am The Glory and The Resurrection

Outside the prison all manner of freakish things were happening and the reporters, protestors, and police alike ran as what appeared to be blood rained down from the heavens and in short order stones some of which that were the size of a fully grown adult battered the grounds surrounding The Pendelton Rehabilitation Center. The Crows perched on the walls watched seemingly in delight as the people fled and if that isn't creepy enough for you, as they watched the Crow's head began to twist until their skulls lay on top of their shoulders upside down and their long curved beaks opened revealing a eye peering out into the blood drenched darkness like a macabre searchlight.

Meanwhile, In Alex's cell, His friend Peter was busy collecting his stuff and putting it in a box for storage. The light in the cell flickered as Peter pulled the picture of Alex and Lauren off the wall and he looked at it and he remembered how happy Alex was when he gave Lauren her engagement ring and how excited he was to have Peter as his best man for their eventual wedding but none of that mattered now because both Alex and Lauren were gone. He exhaled sadly as he put the picture in the box with the rest Alex's possessions.

The Warden and The Guards had finally managed to shut off the generators while a medic gave the executioner a once over to see if he was alright. They were understandably more concerned about the executioner and the people in the observation booth several of whom were struck by pieces of the electric chair when it exploded, than they were about Alex Corvus who was most assuredly dead. I mean there was absolutely no way he could have survived because for the 21 minutes it took the guards to shut off the power enough electricity ran through him to light up an entire city for a year. By all rights, Corvus should have been vaporized but for the most part his body survived.

No one was injured, Just minor scraps and bruises, so with the exception of Corvus there were no other casualties. Everyone was shocked by this ghastly turn of events and many were horrified as they watched the two guards that had escorted Alex from his cell to the execution room lifted his still sizzling body off the ground and up onto a metal gurney and left to take him to the morgue.

"Will you look at that.," The tall white guard who looked like he sidelined as a body builder said to the black guard beside him as they wheeled Corvus' lifeless body down the hall to the morgue.

"The damn mask melted the skin off his face."

"That's what I call a deterrent.," The black guard added as they put Corvus in the freezer.

"Why do they even bother autopsying these guys? I mean, the cause of **** is pretty fucking obvious."

"Beats the hell outta me.," The black guard said to his meathead friend before shutting the door to the walk-in freezer.

Outside the prison, The unnatural storm had ceased and was replaced by freezing rain.

As a testament to the unnaturalness of the weather, Once it had ceased no trace of it remained nor did anyone appear to remember what had transpired during it. As far as the people outside were concerned nothing unusual had occurred.

Martin Toomey, Vincent Erlich, Stan Roberts, and Phillip Dutton were waiting at the front gates as Erin and Nathan Randall exited. After what she had been a witness too during the execution, Nathan sent his Daughter ahead to the car while he met with the four police officers waiting outside the prison.

"Mr. Randall, We all wish this could have ended better, sir.," Phillip Dutton spoke for the group and he actually managed to sound halfway sincere which wasn't easy given his naturally crude, sarcastic, and cynical personality.

Nathan stood in the pouring rain with a bitter scowl on his face. He listened patiently but He said nothing as he turned and walked off leaving the officers huddled together under one large umbrella.

Inside the execution room, A clean up crew was busily moping up the rubble and debris left over from the less than text book execution.

"Will You Look At That!," One of the maintenance workers exclaimed pointing at a large area of wall in the observation booth as another worker snapped a picture and the two looked at the unusual pattern with yet another worker who was walking by commenting that it looked like a bird. Looking at it closer the pair agreed that it did indeed look like a bird... A Crow in fact.

Inside the morgue, There were a pair of large riveted double doors that opened directly into the cold, depressing room where Corvus' body was being stored awaiting his autopsy after his execution. I know, Doesn't make sense to me either. The doors were polished to a mirror like shine and suddenly they opened after coming down from the 13th floor only there was no 13th floor in the prison and at the very instant they opened every clock, watch and time piece in the entire city struck thirteen but only for a second...

The interior of the lift was an impenetrable shadow and once the gargantuan doors finally opened a tidal wave spilled forth from inside, filling the room with a torrent of gnawing black but it wasn't water or blood or liquid at all... Sure it dripped and slid and drenched everything in the room just like water but it had all the consistency of some Onyx like vapor thick and stifling but without substance.

And to the horror of all who might behold it heavy flecks of green and crimson moved through the substanceless astral fog, Moving in what could only be described as some sort of macabre dance inviting eternal cold and unending fire to all they touched.

Once the room was filled, An unearthly sound began to resonate like the shriek of a mournful Banshee lamenting the loss a thousand innocent lives taken before their time and as the unnatural tides of a forbidden world filled the quaint little apartment sized room the flecks began to settle to the floor like confetti after a birthday party.

The flecks of emerald and crimson were not idle for long because within seconds of falling still they began to bead like mercury from a busted thermometer and in defiance of Gravity they started to drip upwards towards the ceiling before raining back down in a sickening downpour.

And from the small deluge that covered the once immaculate floor rose the beautiful silhouette of a woman and with a anguished wail the putrid covering of emerald and crimson exploded outward like a newborn chick violently casting off the prison of it's birth revealing a tall and shapely Woman of supernatural beauty. The same beauty as before who was with Corvus at his end.

The expression on her face was difficult to describe as it was one not possible for a human face to emote... It was stern yet serene, thoughtful but fierce. She was Regal in both appearance and bearing with polished obsidian horns curling like those of a ram, her limbs long and lithe with fingers ending in razor like talons, her long hair a color unknown to this or any other world, Her eyes gleaming in the darkened room like two small but brilliant suns, her lips blueish in color stained forever by the icy kiss of ****.

She was dressed in a long black dress that clung to every sensuous curve of her powerful but slender body like the hands of an enamored lover unwilling to let his love go for even a second.

But what stood out most of all was the color of her skin which was the hue of Gold that had just come from the furnace and had finally taken shape becoming unique and beautiful above what those all to simple words could convey. Several small droplets of sweat like silver tear drops made love to her Golden skin, They kissed and caressed her flawless physique as they were pulled along inexorably by the **** of gravity down down deeper and deeper into the luscious and inviting chasm of her magnificent titflesh.

Her gaze moved across the room searing and freezing everything within her line of sight. She walked with such grace and poise that any Royal would have been jealous that is if they could make it past her incredible and almost Angelic beauty. She strode over to one of five huge freezing compartments that were at the back of the room. Raising her hand as if to offer it to some Southern Gentleman to kiss, The lock on the door burst in a shower of dangerous shrapnel but while nothing else in the room was spared at least some damage the beautiful and unearthly vixen was untouched.

Seconds later the three foot thick, two thousand pound door crumpled like a wad of tinfoil and was torn from it's shreded hinges landing in the far corner of the room. Walking into the minus twenty room, The dazzling beauty walked over to where the recently deceased Alexander Corvus lay fitful and restless in his Eternal Slumber. Sure to everyone else the body laying on the stainless steel slab was nothing more than the burnt and spent remains of a duly convicted murderer. He had died as he had lived... Violently and he was mourned by no one.

Well Almost no one. There was Peter Walsh his only friend and The Eerie Beauty now standing at his side who saw the truth. For In **** none could hide from her all knowing gaze and Corvus had not deserved such a pitiable end. The fates had spit on him and cast him aside but though his old life was over his story was not.

"Alexander Corvus!," Came The Regent's melodious and siren-like voice as she addressed the vacant cinders that now served as Corvus' once intelligent and caring ocean blue eyes. "You do not know me nor do you have any reason to but I have known you all your life. I was present at your birth... I was the first to hold you... I Helped you to your feet when you took your first steps, when you were frightened or in pain I comforted you and when you needed the courage to ask out Lauren for the first time I gave you the push you needed to knock on her door."

The Regent's glowing eyes dimmed only a moment in sadness before returning to their former blazing hot intensity. The freezing air crackled and burned, bursting into tiny greenish explosions whenever it made contact with her even colder skin.

"Those fools who condemned you can not possibly know the depths of Your Love or the boundlessness of My Hate. I have come to you now because I could not help you in life as I now can in ****. I come to you because you Deserved Life but were instead given ****, you Deserved Happiness but Received only Despair, but above all else You were stripped of all You possess and You are owed. You are Owed Blood, You are Owed Flesh and You are Owed Pain... And I shall see that You have it. Now ALEXANDER CORVUS...," The Regent's beautiful siren's voice at once became hollow and devoid of emotion, A vast emptiness that echoed The Primeval Void which proceeded all life. "Arise and Claim Your Due! Rend and Tear, Devour and Consume. Dine On Their Immortal Souls and Give Them The Gift of Suffering Everlasting. Arise! Corvus Arise!"

The room shook violently and the table on which Corvus' lifeless body lay vibrated, The empty sockets where his eyes had once been burned with new life.

AWAKEN! AWAKEN! AWAKEN!
