Chapter 6

What quest will she take?
Goblins [Majority vote]
Yessil’s hand reached for the parchment relating to the goblin raiders. She looked through the quest carefully feeling that she would be able to take it. Apparently it was just a group of around five or so goblins causing havoc on the roads leading to the city. Although numbers might be against her, she was confident enough on her magic to get her through this challenge.
“You sure about that honey?” Lionel cocked an eyebrow as he slowly reached for the discarded quests. “They can be quite a handful for new adventurers.”
“They’re just goblins, how bad can it be?” Yessil smiled confidently.
“And that’s why they become a problem.” Lionel shook his head as he placed his papers in order once more. “Look, you seem like a smart kid so I’m going to give you a hand here.” The dark-elf jabbed a thumb back to a corner where a fox eared woman was sitting. “Lizette over there is an experienced caster that is normally willing to give some aid to members that are just starting out. I recommend you go and test your luck. If she likes you she might even give you a magical scroll of explode goblin or something like that.”
“That… is not a real spell.”
Lionel simply shrugged and smiled back at her. Yessil waited for more of an answer for a moment, but it became clear that the dark-elf had decided that their business was done for now. With a heavy sigh she simply stood back up and wandered to the fox-woman.
Lizette was a tall woman with a pair of fox ears sticking out from between her fiery red hair and a fluffy tail dangling on the side of her seat. She wore what seemed to be purple and black strapless robe that showed off her large bosom. She sat cross legged with a pipe in the shape of a dragon head on one hand and swirling a wine glass in the other. The second she noticed Yessil approach she simply smiled and waited for the younger adventurer.
“Hello there cutie, anything I can help you with?” Her words were glazed with honey, surprisingly captivating the half-elf.
“H- Hi… uhm…” Yessil did her best to not stare at the older caster, but it still took a bit before she could get the words caught on her throat. “Sorry, I was told that you might be able to help me?”
Lizette raised an eyebrow and smiled slyly. “Is that so? What exactly were you told I could help with kitten?”
“Something about helping out new adventurers?” The half-elf could feel her cheeks blushing heavily under the older woman’s stare.
The vixen sighed and glared over at Lionel. “Well I seem to have gathered a reputation it seems. I do like making sure you young ones don’t die, but I don’t just go around giving away free stuff, you know?”
“Oh, of course. That would make sense.” Yessil’s heart sunk a little. She didn’t know what to expect in a form of aid, but it still stung to be rejected.
“Don’t be like that kitten, I’m not saying you’re going away empty handed.” The fox woman’s hand lifted up her chin. She stared at Yessil’s eyes with interest. “I can give you a scroll with a powerful mind altering spell, however in exchange you are going to owe me a favour. And seeing how cute you are I think I would love to cash that favour in the second you come back.”
“W- What sort of favour?”
“You’ll have to wait and see.” Lizette winked before leaning back. She grabbed a purse on her side and took out what seemed to be a scrolled piece of parchment. She handed it to Yessil and smiled warmly. “Do make sure to come back, got it?”
“Of course.”
With that Yessil turned around and walked as fast as she could away from the vixen. Her cheeks were burning and she knew she had a job to do. She put the scroll back on her purse and decided to leave before anything else might distract her form the current task at hand.
Her adventuring life began now and all she had to do was deal with some mere goblins. With a deep breath and excitement on her heart Yessil took the first steps forward.
The quest had detailed the road the goblins had been seen the last times they attacked anyone. It seemed to be one of the less travelled ones, although it was still nonetheless essential for anyone coming from the eastern side of the land. Apparently by now three different merchants had been attacked, **** to leave their goods so they could escape alive. Yessil shook her head thinking about that.
She reread the information again and again as her steps moved outside the city walls. Thinking of a strategy to deal with the problem would probably be the best idea. She didn’t have much experience with goblins, but she figured that if she could find them then taking them down should be fairly easy. The best way to deal with this would most likely be to lure them away from their hideout.
Yessil walked down the road until she saw a toppled wagon on the side. Walking over she examined the remains, figuring that this must have belonged to one of the merchants that were attacked. She stood up to look around, but didn’t see anyone nearby. She considered using a spell to try and find clues, but it would probably be a waste of her magic.
She continued to examine the scene until finding a set of tracks that were close to a child’s size. Lifting her staff for protection she began following the tracks. She stayed alert considering the lead seemed to run towards the treeline, but she kept pushing forward anyway. As Yessil walked through the forest she could hear complete quiet all around her. No animals were around and the rustling of leaves didn’t really call much attention. She began to feel some uneasiness, but pushed forward readying her incantations in case worst came to worst.
As the adventurer reached a clearing she saw what appeared to be a small pink lump on the middle. Curiosity got the better of her and she slowly approached it. She moved it lightly with the staff letting the strange object fall to the side and reveal a broken doll. Yessil frowned lightly before she heard a group of shrieks ring around her. The half-elf turned around to see the gang of goblins leaping from thick bushes to face her head on.
The green skinned creatures seemed humanoid, but animalistic wildness was clear on their eyes. Rushing the caster they held aloft weapons that ranged from daggers to a heavy mace. They were only a few paces away from Yessil, but that was just enough for her to lift her staff and cast a spell. As she looked around Yessil thought through her known magics trying to think which would be the best incantation to use. She could use a fire spell to burn them all down, it probably leave none alive so no interrogation would be possible. She could enchant the plants around to try and grab the small miscreants keeping them alive, but retaining them. Or she could try to use Lizette’s spell, she was still not sure how it would work but she trusted it would be powerful enough to deal with them.
Will she:
Use fire?
Control the plants?
Use the scroll?
What spell does she use?
