Chapter 5 by iReed iReed

How has Ruby's entry affected the world? Do we cut strait to Ookbleck's class or somewhere else.

Dr. Oobleck's Class | Next Day

Ruby had felt confident when she was in Dr. Ooblek’s History class. Should what she had written yesterday have any affect at all, she would have the correct answer for any question that the professor had for her.

Speaking of, Dr. Oobleck was finishing up a monologue about the history of a small Mistralian town and went, “Now, as the Grimm continued to skirmish through the lands of Lichfield for the sixth month, what had the local huntsmen devised to make sure that the town would not be attacked again?”

Ah, a question. Ruby decided to test her luck and rose her hand, among a few other students dotted around.

“Hmm, Ruby. You were first.”

Ruby opened her mouth, expecting a wealth of knowledge to just erupt from her lips at the slightest prompt. However, she did not speak and, most disappointingly, she had no idea what the answer to the question was.

Flushing a bit in embarrassment, as the whole class had their eyes on her, Ruby stammered. Weiss was pointing to something she had written in her notes, in an attempt to help her, but she couldn't make it out.

Instead, Ruby had said the first thing that she could think of and hoped she’d be able to live it down.

“They took the town and pushed it somewhere else, without any Grimm.”

A long, heavy silence hung in the air for a moment, as Ruby wanted to disappear. Yet, no body laughed. In fact, she could see Weiss give a sigh of relief.

There was no way that was-

“CORRECT, Miss. Rose,” Oobleck responded, considerably chuffed at how the girl had clearly done her homework.

“Yes, it was a group effort of both the town and the residing huntsmen but they were able to successfully push the town about ten miles north, settling in the mountains, far from any Grimm. That’s where they expanded their dust mining industry, as a matter of fact.”

Phew, Ruby was lucky there.

Of all the students, Cardin called out, “How the Hell do you push a town? Weren’t the buildings, like, built on foundation?”

Oobleck’s response was strangely undetailed.

“No one is sure on the logistics behind how the town was pushed.”

“Sounds like bullshit, to me,” Cardin bellowed, “I thought Red was just being an idiot.”

He finished off with a mumbled, “as usual,” that Oobleck may have missed but Ruby had certainly heard.

“Hey!” Ruby yelled.

"Now, now," Oobleck interjected, "We can't be discussing the nitty gritty with so much of Southern Mistral's history to go with so little time."

The class continued on, as Oobleck went back to talking a mile a minute.

Meanwhile, the two opposing classmates spoke in hushed tones.

“If you have a problem about it, shrimp, we can always sort it out after classes are done.”

“Y'know, we will,” said Ruby, knowing that she was right. She will meet him and get this sorted out.

What happens with Ruby and Cardin?
