Dr. Akira objects further

"Captain, I respectfully request that I be confined to my medical laboratory instead," Dr. Akira said. "A solution to the virus still needs to be found."

For just a moment, I bristled at her questioning of my orders... but she was right, of course, and in any event the only reason why I was in command was because she had passed on it to work on the virus. I'm not ready to be Captain, I thought to myself for the twentieth time since I'd sat in the chair for the first time. "Of course, Doctor. You're quite right. Please return to your laboratory. I'd advise you to work quickly; we may have only hours remaining to us as individual people."

Doctor Akira stood up and departed at a trot. I turned my attention to the remaining officers. "Doctor Akira isn't wrong," I said. "This method of fighting the Borg goes directly against not only Federation Law, but against our own moral convictions. I want everyone here thinking of alternatives, ANYTHING we can use to escape this situation. And think fast, because our time is running out. Ensign Amasova?"

"Yes, Captain?"

"Summon Minya to the bridge, please. Everyone, return to your posts. Dismissed!"

I left the room first, took a moment to satisfy myself that the ship was still moving at maximum speed, and stifled a tremble when I saw how quickly the Borg Cube closed the gap on the tactical display. On the console at the Captain's chair (my chair, I reminded myself), I called up an image of the most recent scans, looking for a miracle.
