Christmas, Better Late Than Never

At last, it was Christmas Eve and the girls were scrambling to get ready to leave for Sandra's house, or former house at least.

Sam wore a silky red dress shirt, black tie and black pants that she already had while Sandra wore a dark blue strapless dress that had to get the week before.

"I'm kinda surprised you already had that suit. Are you sure you didn't realize you were gay earlier? You're fairly butch." Sandra lovingly teased. "You make it look great, though."

"I had it for a cosplay, okay? And because I wanted to be a rebel at prom." Sam said, her face growing redder. "Although I do kind of wonder how it'd be like if I'd came out, or even realize I'd have to come out, sooner. When I'm with you, I feel things that I've never felt before and it's amazing." Sam told her and held Sandra close.

"Trust me, I don't think you would have liked it. Between the anxiety of liking girls who turned out to be straight or just being bullied, high school was a nightmare...." Sandra recounted.

"But you show me that they're right, things do get better. I hate that we have to pretend that we're something we're not to my family, but it won't be much longer until we don't have to. I think I'm going to cut them out of my life in the new year." Sandra continued with a sigh.

"Are you sure?" Sam asked and pulled away from the hug to look at Sandra. This was a big thing. "Yeah. I think I am. So let's at least give them some good memories. And then after New Year's, I'll tell them the truth. If they hate us, they'll probably do us a favor and cut me out themselves." Sandra explained.

"And if they accept us?" Sam asked. "Then that'll be incredible and I won't have to lie or have them out of my life. Either way, it's a win." Sandra smiled and her phone buzzed with a text from her mom. "Okay, let's get going like, now."
