Blake hid inside his overly large hoody as he perused the shelves, making sure to seem like he knew what he was doing. He did not.

It was the start of a new year and he had already promised himself to broaden his hobbies, he always found magicians cute so logically, if he could do magic he could be cute too.

However, he was in the unfortunate position of not knowing a single thing about magic tricks, and being far too socially awkward to just ask the cashier for help he just picked some bits at random that seemed important.

A deck of rigged cards, a beginners magic guide, as well as a magic wand from the store discount bin.

His breath pitched as he picked it up, the feeling of static travelling over his whole body, a sensation he quickly put down to nerves alone. He felt like a poser, walking up to a magic shop and expecting to become a master magician. Like wearing a band shirt for a band you don't follow that you got just because it looked cool and then never wore it because you were always expecting a real fan to accost you and quiz you.

He took a deep calming breath, paid for the items by the bored cashier and rushed home, eager to try out his new purchases.
