Chapter 10 by hambo hambo

Who is drawn to the fire?

Another traveler?

Hilda's in the middle of removing her armor when she hears a voice call out to her.

"Hello? Is someone in there?" Comes a soft and rather nervous sounding feminine voice. The knight quickly grabs her sword in case this is some sort of trick, but then a small woman comes into view. She's wearing simple peasant's robes with an oversized scarf on her head. Her clothes are just as drenched as the knights, and cling, rather attractively, to her body. On her back is a large, oversized leather bag .

"Oh! I'm sorry," says the startled woman. "I saw the fire and thought somebody else might be here. My... my name's Milly."

"Hilda," The knight says cautiously. "So tell me friend, how did you end up out here?"

"I was just traveling on the road when the weather got bad. I figured I should get to shelter until the storm passed, and when I saw the fire I thought maybe someone else had gotten stuck out here too," she says, obviously worried by the sword.

Hilda slowly lowers her weapon, and Milly becomes visibly calmer.

"Why the large backpack?"

"Oh! Uh... I'm a merchant. I was taking some of my wares to the next village to sell," she says as she shows Hilda a couple of different knick-knacks of inconsequential value. "So can I please stay here? I really don't want to go back out in that weather."

She has a pleading look on her face and holds her hands out to beg.

Hilda mulls the decision over, completely failing to see the bushy tail poking out of the back of her robe or the fox-like ears tucked under her head scarf. Perhaps it was because of the dim fire light or the distractive nature of her soaked and oh-so-clingy robe.

It would be cruel to **** this poor, small woman to go somewhere else.

"Alright, you can stay."

"Thank you so much!" Says the giddy woman as she jumps up and down, a smile creeping across her face.
