A tunnel covered in mucus

As the Recon Team follows the rails deeper into the subway tunnel , they notice the ground changes the closer they get to the tower. It started with a few patches of slime here and there. But the closes they get to the tower, the more puddles there are and the bigger they become. Eventually, the floor becomes covered in a warm mucus they have to wade through.

“Ugh, I can feel it between my toes.” Clarissa complains.

“Can’t go back for boots now, soldier.” Kirie tells her subordinate.

About four miles from the tower, Lizette, one of the three special ops guarding the rear, holds up her hand and tells Kirie to halt formation.

The Roses stand still and listen.

Behind them, from where they lost Lina, sounds are coming.

“Squad, move it, double time.” Kirie tells them.

Rose squad picks up the pace and speeds through the tunnel until they find a maintenance alcove.

Eveline breaks open the door leading to the maintenance tunnel, allowing most members of her team to hide inside. She, the Captain and Lizette remain hidden in the alcove, weapons ready.

It takes a while for the creatures following them to catch up. Apparently they are unaware of their presence and are moving through for other reasons. When the creatures finally come into view it all makes sense.

The creatures heading past are Lupicks. Five total, one of them carries a black woman, a second carries a woman who appears to be Latina. There is no way of telling how or where the Lupicks got them. Only that they are bringing them to the tower to be bred.

Kirie thinks on whether or not to take action to save the two.
