She is out of their reach

The squad circles around the mound Lina is trapped in. Their guns pointed at the ceiling, they try to find a weak spot.

“Hold your fire!” The captain yells. “She is inside that thing. If you shoot it you’ll shoot Lina as well.”

“But captain, she’s being ****!” Sahsa yells back.

“Do you have any ideas?” Kirie asks Sasha.

The private looks up but can’t see any yellow bulbs similar to the one Clarissa was trapped in.

Suddenly Lina’s legs tense up. Her toes curl and then her entire body seems to relax. A copious amount of white goo slides down Lina’s legs, some of it dropping on the ground in the middle of Rose squad. The mound starts moving again. This time not because of Lina’s struggles but of its own. It preforms some kind of suction motion. Slowly, Lina gets pulled up even higher. Her legs disappear inside the mound until she has been completely swallowed. When the mound stops moving, it opens its toothless mouth and a single long tentacle comes out of it. It comes to rest in the middle of Rose squad, waiting for its next victim.

“Eveline, Clarissa, pick up your rifles.” Kirie says as she stares at the tendril that took away Lina. “We’re moving out.”

“But …” Sasha says but gets interrupted by Kirie.

“We’re moving deeper into the subway. Watch out for any more of these tendrils.”

Eveline and Clarissa do as they are told. The Recon Team moves on one woman shorter.
