"Rebirth"

Carrie's sweet voice stops, echoing one last time with an ominous ring.

You don't know when it started or if it's actually just being tuned out in your mind. What you do know is that you feel a subtle shift in your surroundings.

Although you can't seem to open your eyes at the moment, you get a sense that you're surrounded in darkness. Slowly, you hear something different reverberating into your ears, proving that you are not alone.

It's definitely a heartbeat, but not of your own; too disconnected, yet familiar. As it beats, it seems to grow louder and sends small shockwaves throughout your body.

Ba-ba-thump Ba-ba-thump

Your own heartbeat begins to resonate as well, shaking your very core. Not seeming to have any control over this weird sensation, you begin to panic.

Ba-ba-thump Ba-ba-thump Ba-ba-thump!

'Where am I!? Let me out of here!' you scream in your mind, only because you seem to have lost your voice.

The heartbeats grow louder and you feel a bigger change in your surroundings. Slowly, a light seems to peer in within the darkness.

'Yes!'

Delighted to escape whatever seems to surround, you try to make your way towards the opening which grows bigger as you run towards it. Reaching out with one hand towards the light while gripping your chest, you try to stop the beating of your heart from shaking you so much.

However, just as you seem to reach the source of brightness, something grabs your shoulder. It's a hand but it fills you with a sense of dread. Not wanting to turn back after making it this far, you try to push forward.

'Move! Let me be!' you scream.

More "hands" start appearing within the darkness, tugging at your other limbs. One especially caresses your crotch, trying to stroke something out of you.

Yet, you do not want to be wherever the hands seem to pull you. With a grunt, you break free of most of the hands and then pass into the light. Relief shows on your face as you seem to have gotten away from whatever that was. However, your relief soon turns into confusion as the light begins condense into a single circle of light and a room materializes.

You feel yourself being carried with large hands but the light is still bright enough from above you that it prevents you from really understanding what's going on. You freeze when you hear a familiar voice.

"L-let me see him...my baby..."

The voice belongs to Carrie who sounds pretty exhausted but also relieved. You're eager to meet her and try to reach out. Whatever is holding you pulls you away from the blinding light. You are then faced with Carrie who looks pale, lying in a hospital bed. Despite her exhaustion, her eyes shine as she sees you.

However, you understand something is horribly off with this situation. Your heart freezes as you see her hands reach out, insanely huge in your eyes. It's only then did you realize your position.

You're her child.

She smiles warmly, tears flooding in her eyes. "Oh...my baby boy...my son!"

"NO!"

You scream in horror, your voice finally coming out as a healthy wail for a newborn. As Carrie's hands pick you out of the previous doctor's hands, the world around you descends back into darkness.

You gasp, pulling yourself upright in the bed with sweat dripping down your forehead and shoulders. Your heart races and the sudden movement wakes up Carrie. She groans a little, stirring from her sleep.

"Ung....Sweetie?"

You stare wide-eyed and look around the room, trying to get your bearings and finally recognize that you had a bad dream. Something isn't quite right though as you feel a heaviness against your ears and head. Carrie's voice travels through your head again, similar to all those times before but it's louder and clearer.

"Come to mommy..."

"Mommy is here..."

You lift your hands up slowly and your fingers tremble as you confirm a pair of headphones on your head. You don't remember putting these on and slowly, you look towards your mommy-girlfriend who flinches at your horrified expression as the moonlight shines on your face.

Carrie didn't know how long this training would last but she understood how effective it was on you seeing how you were naturally beginning to refer to her as "mommy". That said, she hoped it would be longer before you find out.

Adjusting plans in her mind, your girlfriend smiles warmly and moves to grab the headphone from your head. You flinch this time and you're unable to think as she gently removes them from your ears. Pretending like this sudden revelation doesn't matter, she smiles warmly at you and places a hand on your cheek.

"Baby, let's go back to bed, okay?"

She speaks softly, completely ignoring the fact that she had been slowly rewiring your brain. For a moment, you felt the need to oblige, snuggle up in her bosom and trust her.

Mommy would never hurt you, after all. She loves you so much.

That line of thinking flows through your head but then you also wake up to the feeling in your stomach that tells you that something is deeply wrong.

Your stomach churns and feeling something rise up in your throat, you quickly fling the blanket and bolt to the bathroom while flicking on the lights. Without another second thought and the toilet bowl in front of your eyes, you get down on your knees and lurch forward.

Carrie is somewhat mystefied as she hears you empty out your stomach with a violent groan; however, she keeps calm and she closes her eyes. A sad smile forms on her face but when she opens her eyes, it becomes no less resolute over what she's doing to you.

Mommy knows best, after all.

She slides out of the bed and quickly moves into the shared bathroom, intending on comforting you.
