Sci-fi Strippings

After humanities ascension to the stars, contact and growth with alien life, obviously came war, it was only a matter of time really. The wars that happened between other life in the galaxy, and other humans raged on for a long time. Populations heavily declined for years and years. That is, until a group of scientists discovered how to successfully implant one's consciousness into another body. With the long since past possibility of cloning, this development, ment you could be effectively immortal should you desire it. Because of the massive amount of funding these facilities got, it became child's play to do it. You could even get your consciousness transfered into a new body remotely with a implant once you got fatality shot, provided it wasn't the brain.

Then it got leaked. And after several years of political drama and even more funding, anyone could be immortal as long as you weren't dirt poor. Afterwords, the amies of the galaxy just thought that their would be less casualties now, 'great!' Unfortunately for them, their populations rioted and demanded that with low population across all races, less lethal ways were necessary. So came the development of the CDaP-guns, short for Clothing Destruction and Paralysis guns. The invention of paralyzing guns were quickly were ignored years ago after realizing they didn't do crap against any clothes and armor, and strengthening them too much gave people dead nerves. So after some advancements to them, they now were able to dissolve clothing and armor, removing any resistance to the next shot which would paralyze the now exposed flesh around it.

Less lethal guns were produced after making the CDaP-guns. Wars became rather embarrassing for both parties involved. Fighter ships being the exception, all pilots were required to have a backup of themselves should they be shot down. And after the media smelled a way to make good money, many wars became televised. People would take bets on what regiments and forces would be stripped first. Home life and crime changed too. The CDaP's were sold instead of most self defense weapons, the exception being most pistols. This was a surprisingly ok thing in most people's eyes, as they could unload a whole lot of ammo into criminals without legal repercussions. However, that does not mean the lethal guns were seized, so there was still plenty of them floating around, the price of them and the ammunition went up immensely, making them a pricey thing to own.

Which leads us to the present. The many wars left lots of mysterious tech to rediscover, new planets to find, new wars to wage. The question is...
