Isekai Fantasy

The bolt finally came loose as Cory wrenched underneath his white pickup. The truck, a small white mini truck he'd imported, with ISEKAI on the license plate, had been slipping in gear, and had finally received a new clutch kit to remedy the issue.

He'd been yanking on the transmission cross member bolts for several minutes. He'd used some PB Blaster on them and had his biggest breaker bar employed in the task. Unintentionally he hit hard against one of the jack stands and it shot out from underneath the vehicle with a loud *Clang!* and then everything went dark.

"Nnngh... My head." Cory mumbled, rubbing his hand through his hair. His eyes tried focusing, but something was immediately wrong. He wasn't in his garage.

His vision finally cleared and his jaw dropped as he seemed to be floating in a sea of stars.

"Where am I?" He whispered to himself.

"Unfortunately," came a soft voice behind him, "you have passed on from your life."

Cory quickly turned around to see a shadowed female figure, surrounded by a luminous glow.

"So, what now?" Cory responded, surprising himself by how calm he was.

"You have a choice." The figure responded. "Most will pass on to the afterlife. However, there is always the option of reincarnation for those who felt unfulfilled in their life."

Cory thought about it for a few minutes. His life hadn't been bad, but he had only been in his early twenties, and he really never got a chance to live. Hell, he'd never even been with a woman. But could he really just ask for reincarnation? And where would he be going to? Would he have his memories? Would be even be himself?

"Don't worry yourself with the trivial problems." Came the gentle female voice. "There are innumerable worlds to which you can be reincarnated, and you will remain yourself, able to live out the remainder of your years with the promise that you cannot die before your life has been fulfilled. You will also receive an item that will allow you to live out your desires, so long as they do not destroy the happiness or lives of others."

Cory didn't even have to think twice after that explanation. He was definitely going to reincarnate.

"Let's do it!" He perked up, excitedly.

He couldn't see it, but he felt a soft smile from the figure in front of him.

"Very well. Where would you like to go?"
