Das amerikanische Original dieser Geschichte stammt von Manbear und trägt den Titel "The Diary", hier aus CHYOA – Der Autor hat mir erlaubt seine Story hier auf Deutsch zu bringen. -- Die Hauptfigur der Geschichte ist Bianca DiFlorentini, und das Geschehen spielt sich hauptsächlich im Jahr 1832 ab. Sie ist die Tochter einer hellhäutigen Sklavin und des einzige Sohns einer , die in South Carolina eine Plantage betreibt. Vor Jahren wurde ihre Mutter von dem jungen Mann freigelassen und nach Philadelphia geschickt, wo sie Bianca als weißes Kind italienischer Abstammung ausgibt. Nach dem ihres Vaters erfährt Bianca, dass sie die Plantage mit fast vierzig Sklaven geerbt hat. Als sie auf der Plantage ankommt, erfährt sie, dass der Letzte Wille ihres Vaters angefochten wird, und zusätzlich zu den Schwierigkeiten bei der Verwaltung einer südlichen Plantage droht ihr, dass ihre wahre Herkunft verraten wird, sie ihr Erbe verliert, und außerdem, was noch schlimmer wäre, nämlich ihre Freiheit.
