Chapter 37

Alright, what now?
You have the whole morning to yourselves
Amy, sensing the tension in the air after the really heavy conversation between the two of you, thought of a way to try and lighten the mood. You felt a pillow knock you over, sending you into laying down face first on the bed.
"I know you did not just do that", you said, somewhat challenging her.
"What if I did?" she said sassily.
"I'm gonna have to retaliate then", you responded with an eyebrow raise as you hurled a pillow at her.
She dodged the pillow easily, jumping onto the floor, then wagged a finger at you.
"I can't believe you would just start a war like that", she said in a fake disapproving tone. "I guess I'll just have to retaliate".
She then threw another pillow at you, which you caught. She continued to throw the pillows until you were sitting on them all.
"Ha, now what are you going to do?" you asked mockingly. "I have all of your ammo".
She didn't respond verbally, instead lunging at you and landing on top of you and your pillow throne.
"Oof", you involuntarily say. "Now that was actually uncalled for".
"I don't know", she said on top of you. "You did ask me what I was going to do, so I showed you."
What followed then was a silence. She laid her head down on your chest, where she was laying down. You took the opportunity to wrap both of your arms around her again.
A few minutes later, she scooted up a little bit, unintentionally rubbing your growing erection along her stomach, before she settled her face right next to yours. She turned your face towards her, and kissed you.
Unlike the last time, which was also the first time, this kiss had a lot more intensity to it. It wasn't just like the two of you met in the middle at the lakeside, now there was fervor behind it. You took the opportunity to slip your tongue in, which she received, opening her mouth and moving her arms to around your neck.
Your brain short-circuited for a second, and memories of the past 11 years with Amy came flooding back to you. That time that you and her were on the swings during recess in elementary school, trying to go higher than the other person until you were convinced that you would do a full orbit around the top. The time that she chased you around the playground, declaring to anyone who cared to listen that she was going to marry you one day. That time that she wordlessly entered your house because her sister was being what she called "supremely annoying". That time that she told you that you were the only person who was keeping her interested in school when she was having a rough year of high school. All of those times that you or Amy had each other's back, worked with one another, or just had fun together, they all came rushing into your head. Then you "descended" back into reality as you focused on your experience that you were having at this moment, so you could remember it later as you had remembered those past circumstances in this moment.
You pull back, but only because you need to, you know, breathe like a normal human. You're pretty sure that if breathing wasn't required for you to be alive, you could've stayed there with her forever.
Her eyes open, and you immediately get lost in them. The emerald green seems to shimmer as her face contorts into a heartfelt, genuine smile.
"Don't worry, my parents and sister are all on the second floor, it's just me and you down here for a while", she said, calming the only fear you had in the moment.
You tried to find words to vocalize how you felt then and there, but the only one that could do it justice was "Damn".
"I know", she responded with a mischievous smirk. "You have no idea how much I've wanted to do that for the last...who knows how long. I mean, yeah, our first kiss was amazing and memorable and all, but this was something else".
"Since when have you had those words in your mouth?"
"Since I thought of them like three seconds ago, dork".
You rolled your eyes at that. "You're calling me a dork?"
"Yeah, you were lying there with this shit-eating grin on your face like you just won the lottery".
"What if I did win the lottery?" you said with a teasing tone in your voice. "Would that make you want to advance on me even more?"
"How dare you accuse me of being a gold digger", she said, feigning offense. "But perhaps".
"Good", you say, as she had just walked right into your trap. "Because I did win the lottery, I have you as my girlfriend".
That comment earned you a swift shove as Amy stood up and playfully shoved you off of your throne of pillows. She acted all annoyed, but you could tell by the redness on her face that she appreciated that.
"You were asking me when I had the words in my mouth, but what pick-up line book did you find that in?" she asked you. "Volume 7?"
"Four, actually. I didn't want to waste my money on all seven volumes".
"Oh hey, look", Amy said, suddenly losing her edgy tone. "You've got a text".
"From whom?" you asked.
"Oooooh, it's one of your other lady friends, Summer!" she said, sounding as excited as every middle schooler sounds whenever one of their friends admits they have a crush on someone.
"What does it say?" you asked, getting up onto your feet.
"Wouldn't you like to know", she smugly said, holding the phone high above her head.
Unluckily for her, she forgot two factors. You were about 6 inches taller than her and you were a trombonist, so you were used to reaching far. You grabbed your phone back from her with ease.
Well, what does it say?
