You do

You have Yasmin lean against you, putting her weight onto you, as you two stumble towards the river shore. Her holding a plasma rifle ready to repel any would-be attackers.

Eventually, after many grueling hours, you reach the first leg in your journey.

You look out upon a vast lake, you cannot see the colony in the distance, in fact, you cannot even see the land on the other side, however, upstream you see the colossal waterfall you came from. The wall of falling water seems to fade off into the distance, and the spray is drifting across the lake into the jungle. The shore is rocky, and you dread what might be in the water after the whole debacle that was getting here.

"Well it seems we made it," you say letting Yasmin down onto a collapsed tree.

"Yeah," she says, gazing out at the beautiful sight of the truly giant falls.

Then suddenly you see something come out of the heavy clouds, that you thought you would never see in your life, you see a whale but not just an ordinary whale-like creature, no this one has oily purple skin, with glowing blue pouches down its sides and up its various appendages. It has two huge"flippers" on both sides the main one where the flipper would usually be and one further down towards "tail, there is also a huge "tail" the moves up and down propelling it forward, and a genuinely large ornate back crest sticking out high into the sky. It also has purple tentacles that turn into a blue color nearer to the tips all descending from its jaw, brow and lower back. You have never seen anything like it before, let along because it is flying!

"Oh my god," you say, dumbfounded by sight, "I don't think we are in Kansas anymore."

"What the..." Yasmin manages out at seeing it.

You cannot believe this it seems to be filtering something out of the air as blue whales did on earth. It moves slowly towards another cloud, disappearing into it.

"How the hell" you state.

It takes some time for you and Yasmin to come down from that, what other life will you find, on this planet, you wonder.

You set the heavy pack down off of your back, the strap hurting your arm as you take it off. After the bag is off, you begin to pull out the inflatable raft, pulling the emergency cord causing the float to inflate in your hand rapidly.

"I think we should cross now," you say furrowing your brow "I don't know if those, greyish apes, are going to come back; or worse."

Yasmin nods in agreement looking at your arm.

You put the now rapidly inflating craft into the water, putting the pack in and holding it still as Yasmin climbs in, you hop in and set off into the water. Not even stopping to make camp for the "night."
