I blinked and the odd appearance of the smile was gone. I figured it was a trick of the light. I stepped inside and the man closed the door behind me. I heard him slide a thick bolt shut.

Inside the house was cozy, from the foyer to the left I could see a large living room with a sofa and leather arm chair, a fire roaring in a fireplace. Beyond that I could see a large kitchen. Further down I could see a hallway leading deeper into the house.

The man smiled, "My name is Jacob. Why don't you sit down and get warm by the fire. I can get you some coffee, and maybe some soup? Or if you want the bathroom is right there through the second door." Jacob pointed down the hallway to a cracked second door.
